Hey everyone...parents finally ok'd me gettin a bike...(i'm only 16). And I've been thinkin...and have decided on either a Fizzer 600 or a Cbr600F3...For those of you who have owned either of the two, or both, what are some good qualities of each and which do you prefer? Thanks a bunch guys..

I owned a 91 fzr 600 and a 93 cbr 600f2. They both seemed to be about the same speed. I never raced them side by side. The cbr looked better because it had a 160 rear tire, as the fzr only had a 140(but a 150 would fit). Of these two bikes, the Honda was more reliable. Hate to say it on this board, but i liked the Honda better(between these two bikes).

I owned a 94 CBR 600 f2 and a 93 FZR 600 I prefered the CBR it was faster, handled better (maybe I was more comfortable on it) and it definatley looked better, I am a big yamaha fan but I think the CBR is a better choice between the two,

I'd go with the cbr. I'd even take it over the yzf600 which is the upgrade from the fizzer.

I see nobody likes the fizzer

I have a 94 F2 (almost the same thing as a F3) and I love it. Looks great, handles beautifully and very reliable. This is my first bike, have some respect for it because it is very fast, especially for a first bike.

my friend had a 95 fizzer and I had a 96 f3...

the f3 looked better, and also performed better. in the corners, was more comforatble...all around...

go with the CBR.

I've owned and raced both of them. If it is your first bike a couple of things to think about:
1. When you crash the FZR, everything on the bike is plastic including what looks like the tank. On the CBR you have a $1000.00 metal tank up on top that looks very ugly when dented. Also everything bodywise for the FZR is a lot less expensive if you are buying new.
2. The FZR will be a great bike to learn on, and other than cosmetic changes, and the change in swingarm in '91 they are all the same, which means easily acquired used parts. Also in my opinion, the FZR was a lot easier to work on and a lot less intmidating to work on as well.
3. The CBR is a much better bike, however a lot of them were purchased for racing, and after 1993 not many of the FZR's were.
4. The CBR will outdo the FZR stock for stock in every catagory you can think of.
5. The CBR probably still has more trick aftermarket stuff available for customizing than the FZR,
6. Buy the one that you like and remember, if your just going to move up in a year or 2 than buy the one that needs little work, and that you get a good deal on!!!

BTW welcome to the crowd when you get one!

i had an F2 (very similar of course) and my buddy had a fizzer... long story short when it came time to move up, - (he sold it b/c of electrical problems) losing about 1000 dollars and i sold mine making about $300. always good to look out for resale when you wanna get the one.

I had a 97 Fzr. The thing looked dated cuz they didn't change them for ten years, but the thing was a great beginners bike. A slip on and jet kit juiced it up a bit, and the plastic replacement parts were cheap. There is a ton of em out there, so you can probably pick one up with low miles for cheap. You can also learn some good 1st gear bounce wheelies on it too.
