Crashed hard at the motocross track 2 weeks ago... broken ankle and broken collarbone. This totally sucks!!!!!!!! I'm not to worried about the ankle, but the collarbone is a different story. Nothing the doc can do but put you in a highly low tech brace. The bones aren't lining up worth a shit.

Anybody have any stories about broken collarbones? I really hope I don't need surgery.

Sorry bout your accident. They rarely do anything when it comes to fractures or tendon injuries to the collar bone. Hope it heals fine. All my lateral tendons over my left collar bone are torn off and will always be gone. Sucks but hey, I can still ride my One :)

I broke my ankle about 10 yrs ago. It aint no big deal. I just
hated having a cast on my foot for a couple of months. Now,
on certain occasions when the weather is crappy with low pressure it aches me just a little bit.

Well, having JUST a broken ankle or JUST a broken collarbone wouldn't be that bad. I'd take the collarbone if I had the choice. The combination blows. I can only use one crutch and most of the time just end up hopping around. Good thing my place is pretty small. I just hope everything heals without the need for surgery.

The F'ed up thing is I'm pretty sure it wasn't even the ground that broke my collarbone... it was my helmet jamming into it. I'll wear my chest protector next time. Sucks you have to learn the importance of protective gear after the fact.

I know what your talking about, I race harescrambles, and at the end of the 01 season I totally thrashed my knee, I had to miss almost all of the 02 season, And just last weekend I scored another KO on the first lap when I ate it on a gnarly downhill, and lawn darted myself into the ground. Hope you heal quick and get back to racing soon.

goodriddance, I feel ya. I sure am glad I live in Florida now and not the great white north. An injury like this just before summer and knowing I only have about 4 months of riding weather would have sent me into deep depression. Ugh.

Most of the time they will not to do surger on collerbones unless you are an sports athelete or something big time like that. When I broke mine Last March I was under Ortho care for 142 days. My Ortho siad that if I had done surger I would be down for 9 Months. So in retrospec 4+ is a lot less than 9.

Broke my Collarbone in Jan, the thing healed like shit!

It has left me with a lump in the shoulder and I still have pain if I sleep on that shoulder. They should put you in a figure 8 bandage, there is also something called a "clavicle brace" go see an orthopedic doctor.

Cheers,
P.
