headstock stand

I already have a Pit Bull rear stand, but am looking to get a front stand as well. Since I won't use it but a few times a season, I figured I'd get a cheapo one from Handy Ind.

My problem:
I have 2 bikes and I noticed that the r1 requires a special version of the front fork stand. That means I would have to buy 2 stands to work for each of my bikes.

My question:
I figured I'd buy a headstock stand so that it would work on both bikes + would be more useful for larger tasks such as working on the forks, etc (i am in the process of learning how to work on my bike(s) myself, so that would be some time a way, but still possible). The thing is I have no idea how it works. Are they pretty easy and/or self explanatory to use??

thx

You may get by with using one pin with both bikes. My Pitbul front headstock stand works with both my R1 & SV650, but need another pin adapter (~$20) for my VFR....

If you're carefull, you shouldn't scratch anything getting the bike on the stand. It's pretty simple.

If you have a lot of trouble or scratch your bike putting it on the stand, then maybe you shouldn't be doing work on your own bike!

I think it comes with like 4 or 5 pins, so I should be covered there. I guess I'll have to be extra careful, and practice on my old bike until I get it down prior to letting it anywhere near the one.
