After work, I went for ride up in the canyons. I hit 2 birds in seperate incidents (actually, they hit me). The second one died. I've hit birds before and have come close to hitting countless others. Lately, I've had close calls with the usual cast of characters: coyotes, squirels, rabits, deer, dogs, etc. This is the first time I've actually killed an animal on my bike (that I know of). Seems like these close calls are getting more and more frequent. What gives? I do most my riding late in the afternoon until dusk when more animals come out to feed, but it's getting down-right crazy out there. I normally worry about the usual stuff like cars, sand, etc. Now, I've got to look out for Bambi. :no

Yeah, no sheet, I had to duck swerve out a flock of birds just last night. I know for this area its because of all the spring rain we had. Rain=bugs=more birds rodents and bats..

Two birds in one day...? I'm not sure if you should play the lottery or hide in your house for the next two weeks.

Glad to hear the birds didn't cause any damage. I hit a bird a few years ago at 160Mph that nearly took me off the bike (was a big a$$ bird).

TOO FUNNY !!
We hit a few last Saturday.
On Lake Elizabeth Rd I had a flock of about 7 fly right into me.
Killed One and at leadt one other one made connection.

About fifteen minutes later - on Angeles Forest - My buddy riding directly infront of me had one fly directly into the Shoei logo on his helmet! That thing was DEAD !!!

DAMN STUPID BIRDS !!!

Too bad these aren't the eating kind of birds - it would at least make it worthwhile. :boobies

 Damn!!!
The other thing that always seems to happen to me in the canyons is freakin' bee stings. I got another one 2 weeks ago on my neck (where I usually get them). Man, I hate that!!!

Did you mount them as trophies? I think you should start putting kill marks on your bike like World War II pilots used to do with Nazi's marks :lol You could be an "ace" in no time at your rate, lol:D

I hate bees! Got stung so many times right on my neck, like you said. I started wearing a bandana rolled up and tied around my neck and no more stings ever since.

About 6 or 7 years ago, i believe i was on my fzr 600 or cbr 600. I was going about 55mph and i had my visor up on my helment while wearing sunglasses. A bird flew across the road and hit right inside my helment. I had to shake my head back and fourth to get the bird out. Don't know if it killed it or not. I did not go back to look. All i remember is it scared the sh?t out of me.

It would look cool to freeze dry it and use as a hood ornament.

A few months ago I was just pulling back into my lane after passing a couple of cars to see a duck casually fly down and land in the middle of the road. I slammed on the anchors and just as I was passing the bird it decided to take off. It came up just under my right clip on (just missing the brake lever thank christ) above my knee and perched on my lap where it shit itself all over the place and then flew out the side again. I think it was Ok as I went back and it was gone. Had to pull into the next service station to clean myself up.

I hit one last Sunday too, right on top of my helment at 145 couldn't duck fast enough. And you know kinda hurt a little. But the bird didn't know the pain he exploded on impact.

UPDATE:

After hitting 2 birds on Thursday, I went out on Saturday and promptly nailed a Hummingbird. Put it in the back of my bike to take home and show my g/f, who is a huge bird lover (particularly Hummingbirds). It's currently in the fridge awaiting "proper burial".

Dude, are out there hunting these things down or something that's too funny. You are the Birdman.
I hit a bird about a year and a ½ ago I pulled over and was picking feathers out of my front forks. Turned back and saw the bird dead on the road.

Zippy's hits = 3 birds, kills to date: 2 birds.:bow

A few weeks ago, we're on Angeles Forest to Upper Big Tajunga to ACH. One of the guys hits a bird on either AF or UBT. Get up to Newcombs, he has 1/4 of a bird adhering to the front of his right side mirror stalk. A foot, and leg, and some feathers. Seems to be going around lately.

Every time My girl and I leave my Subdivision, to go for a ride (she has a ZX6R), We always get strafed by a few birds (bastards).

Recently, I was driving my car, and a bird tried to strafe me. Well, I guess it was either a fat bird, or a slow bird, because the damn thing just didn’t make it. I saw it flying low, in front of my car…. then…. THUD!!!. I couldn’t believe what just happened. I was amazed.

My girlfriend has a problem with butterflies trying to hit her at like 75 MPH, while going up state road GA400. Who knew that those things could fly that fast?!?
