You can go fast without dragging your knee - many people are just tall and extend it out there and think they are going fast.

I've only touched a stock footpeg into the ground once - once I got my gilles I don't touch any pavement with bike parts or body parts.

 

and to add - dragging knee is easy, just lean. I'm working on dragging tail
