That's right..I pay $92 a year for full coverage through USAA. It probably helps that I'm a Chief Warrant Officer W2 (military) & 37,lol. My last ticket was in 1994. What do you guys pay a year?-Fred

that is a great deal on insurance for the R1. As far as what everyone else pay's if you do a search you will find a lot of other threads on this subject.

I think you must be on CRACK!

IMO - There's no way in _ell that this is true.............I don't care who you are...... Something is wrong.........

Unless this is some military program that gives you big discounts that the rest of us end up paying for..... Not saying it's wrong... our troops do deserve to be taken care of..........

I couldn't even get AAA towing for $92 a year in calif....:lol :lol

Like I said - It's a military only program........

So in other words the govt. pays the rest- which in turn is the rest of us by way of taxes................

So just keep this to yourself will ya.......... Why brag about it?

I have been with my insurance agent for 15yrs., have my truck & homeowners thru them, they insured my previous 600, when I got my 02 R1, they told me they (Allstate) wouldn't even write a policy for it, and I'm 53 :yesnod

And as far as insurance in Detroit on an R1, the best I could get for full coverage on my 02, with a good driving record & no accidents in 4yrs., was $1800/yr. thru Progressive :yesnod

This year it has dropped to approximately $1350 . . . so I don't even want to hear about your GD $92 dollar policy . . . all that does is piss me off :rant

Just turned 24 and no accidents to date.

$198 a month for The 2002 R1

$130 a month for the 2004 F150 SCrew lariat

$186 a month for the 2001 Blazer Extreme

$154 a month for the 1999 Trans-am Ws6

I would say that is pretty cheap and I am jealous!

$ 624.00/yr for a 2000 R1
$ 681.60/yr for a 2002 Custom ($35,000.00) H-D Softail
$ 631.48/yr for a 1999 Ford Ranger XL (small pick-up)
$ 671.52/yr for a 1996 Nissan Altima

$2,608.60/yr Total Vehicle Insurance

$ 217.38/month (all full coverage)

I'm 52 with no tickets or accidents (that fall within their time frame). :mad:

You're in the same situation I was in...

Famer's Insurance was our carrier for auto & home, but wouldn't write insurance for a Seca2 for me. I went to Progressive, and paid about $380/yr for full coverage. When I bought my R1, it shot up to about $1,000 a year, and then they wanted $1,500 to renew.

I went to State Farm, and they insure both bikes for about $500/yr for full coverage. Of course, that's with moving auto and homeowner's there as well.

Homeowner's was about $100/yr cheaper, auto was about the same, and motorcycle insurance was $1,200/year cheaper. All with the same, or greater coverage. As much as I didn't want to go to State Farm (problems with double billing, and had been dealing with Farmer's for over 20 years via parents and own policies), the savings so far has made it worth it.

I'll see what happens in regards to claims, as I was involved in an auto accident (other guy's fault) that resulted in my getting injured. So far it's been pretty good.

I do pay between 120-130 per month though on all three. So there still getting my money. As far as being a military thing & you paying extra..NO I pay taxes just like everyone else.-Fred

Fred, is the $92/year what they quoted you for the remainder of this year from replacing a bike? Or, did they say that is what it'll cost you next year on renewal as well for the full season?

I sold my 1997 CBR 1100xx back in 2000. This is what happened, I went down to SanRafael Yamaha to look at a 05 V-Max. I wasn't sure I'd be happy & asked if they had an R1. They did & I ended up buying it. I called USAA from the dealership & asked to have the bike added. The guy at USAA says to me "What kind of bike is It"? I told him it was a Yamaha YZF R1. He asked if I would consider it a sport bike,lol. I said yes. He then told me I was able to get the multi car discount as I already had two cars with them. At the tune of $92 a year! I couldn't believe it myself.-Fred

I don't know the details to argue this point but I'm pretty sure you do not pay the same taxes that non-military people pay...
