Is This Possible?

They always say that the fact that a person hasn't witnessed a certain event take place does not necessarily make it imposible. So, my questions is this. I know there are many variables when negotiaing corner speed and exit speed, but I'm having a hard time believing that a person can approach a corner at 170mph, maintain that speed..AND exit said corner without causing catastrophic damage to the rider, the bike, and whatever else is in their path.
I've never ridden on the track, so I'm not sure if this can be accomplished there. However, I JUST DO NOT see this as being possible on the street.

What's the fastest that you've ever taken a corner, and were you on the track or street?

not possible.. LAWS OF PHYSICS... :lol
Well, I was hoping that I wasn't losing my mind, but I heard that from a guy last night, and I read this on the forum today. I doubt if that guy has cornered hard at 170 at all.. Not to say it isnt possible.. I myself have seen at almost full lean (meaning my boots were touching down) at 160 *AND GOT PASSED!!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT*

Now, the straight parts of many tracks are considered to be the "fast" parts of the tracks, and the speeds of these straights are around that speed. So, to hear a guy say he CORNERS AT FULL LEAN ANGLE at those speeds makes me wanna say....well, ya know.......

actually if you do the math, it is possible, but improbable, and most certainly for any bike that would be on the street.
I won't post the math(it would take to much room and explanation), but suffice to say it would be a very shallow corner, and not full lean angle and a very, very powerful motor, and mostly some really big cahones!!!!!

I don't think what was described is possible, but I did see a video from either PB or Superbikes (UK moto-rags) where they rode a de-restricted ZX12 and 'Busa from somewhere in the U.K. to Paris and back in like 2 days or something utterly ridiculous.

They were pluggin' along at 170-180, and hitting what would normally be gentle bends in the highway ended up being pretty sharp turns. Like knees probably 6-8" off the deck. Maybe I'm a big pu$$y, but I was starting to get a little nervous watching them. Truly crazy stuff.

I'll see if I can't find that video in my VCD archives. :)

Haven"t got a scanner so can"t show you, but, if anyone out there has the spring edition of MCN sport[issue 7],then on page 8 is a picture of Ryan farquhar taking a bend at approaching 150 mph on an R1 during the 2002 ulster G.P. on ordinary roads, this guy is a "pro" and has the bodywork draggin the tarmac! 170? BULLSHIT !!!

I don't think it's impossible at all, granted you would not want to hang off like you do when taking a corner at slower speeds, but taking a turn at that speed tucked in is possible. The force needed to counter steer is much higher but I wouldn't say it's impossible..

The guys bike was probably geared 2 down in front and 5 up in back and he probably believes his speedometer is still accurate, lol.So he was only going 110 :2bitchsla
