Lift Control

Hi all. I am new to R1's and have a question about the Lift Control. Pulled the front end up going over a crest of a hill and when the font end sat back down it did so sorta harsh compared to the C-14 I had {btw it was tuned and pushed up 145HP on the dyno so I am no strange to the front end lifting}.

At any rate, I have the setting for the lift on 1. If I set it to 2 will it help with the landing or anyone thinking it could be I need to adjust the front forks?

Thanks for the info in advanced.

I don't have my manual in front of me but I believe you have it backwards... 1 allows for the highest front wheel lift if I remember correctly. I'll look when I get home.

I have found the lift control does not work over crests of hills. I also experience a more than subtle wheel drop. I think this has to do with the how the system actually determines if lift control needs to be engaged. Next to the brake indicator there is the level indicator. When going down hill there is a little blue bar towards the front (even at constant speed) and the same as going up the hill, a little blue to the back.

When going over the crest of the hill, the front wheel is coming off the ground because the ground is moving down. The bike isn't pointing up (as it would in a normal wheelie on level ground), but it is mostly level with the ground going down which is simulating lift. Therefore, the lift control might see the bike is level (as the instruments indicate it is) and, therefore, doesn't need to engage lift control. No matter what the ground is doing, the bike perceives it is level.

I could be completely off on how this system works, but this is my anecdotal understanding.

I can't tell if it works on hills either. some of the guys in my thread asking this said they can feel it work. it might work down gradual hills like on a track but cresting sharp drops like on the street i'm not so sure. as it always feels like it's getting way up there more than it does on flat ground. I'm too much of a wimp to try to let it keep going I always shut it down. lol
if it doesn't I don't think it's for any of the reasons you stated. however great thinking. but the bike has the IMU with the gyro measuring 6 axis.
I think it would know by the slowing of the front wheel speed and the downward movement of the bike.

just a theory. probably way wrong.

That's what she said...

I wonder if you can with the Kit ECU? I thought I read you could adjust TCS so I'd think you could adjust LIF too.
