What Rossi accomplished today should not be possible with the company he had. Rossi is so extremely talented and something of a wonder. He must be the best rider ever on two wheels. I still cant believe what he did today:no , even though he has done similar race recoveries when they where all on 2-strokes.

Congrats ducati and capirossi, but Vale is truly a rider from beyond. There isn't even a way to describe the man. Maybe he is a God, or simply God.

Good question about the holes in the Ducs nose piece.
I think it would be safe to say that they are pressure relief orfices.

The advantages should be multi fold.
If you notice theres a V section on top of the nose that looks like it keeps the riders shoulders out of the windstream.

This V section looks like it would create a higher pressure area below it.
This pressure would slow the bike down and also not allow it to make directional changes as quickly.

I believe the advantages are for Better acceleration, more top end, quicker/easier directional changes, relieve some of the down force that slows it down, maybe relieving the low pressure behind the windscreen during a tuck, and possibly helping cool the pilot. No doubt these holes are stategically placed.

Either way you can figure that they get to use their daddys (Ferrari) wind tunnel to develop their configuration.
