I went to a local sporting goods store and saw a new silver R1 in the lot. I saw the owner coming out so I waited to talk to him. I was just going to compliment him on his bike.
Me- Nice carbon fiber Yosh. RS-3. Is it the race baffle or street baffle?
Him- What?
Me-Nice carbon fiber Yosh. RS-3. Is it the race baffle or street baffle? (I'm thinking WTF?)
Him-It's a YAM-A-HA Y-Z-F-R-1 (He said it enunciating every sylable like I was either deaf or a moron who had no idea what I was talking about)
Me-I know it's an R1, I own an '01. I was asking about your exhaust.
Him- Oh. I don't know much about it, it sounds good though. It's supposed to help out with some extra ponies!
Me-Oh.........
I went into the store and since they didn't have what I needed, I came right back out. He was still in the lot so I talked to him some more.
Me- Have you ever thought about getting a full system and ditching the EXUP?
Him-(witha glazed look on his face) What's that?
Me-The EXUP valve.
Him- I really don't know anything about it. What do racers do? I just got the bike a few months ago. I'm still up in the air as far as which stuff I need to modify first.
Me-Is this your first bike?
Him-Yeah, I mostly wanted a bike to run on the track and still be able to ride on the streets. I've got several track days under my belt and am going again on the 13th.
Me-Look at the time, I gotta run. See ya. Let's hear that Yosh pipe.
He proceded to attempt to start the bike, trying every possible combination of switch flipping and button pressing he could find until he figured that the key was in the seat release lock on the side of the bike, and not in the ignition . He then started it up, put on his beanie helmet and fingerless gloves, adjusted his shorts, tucked in his tank top and left. I listened and I never heard him shift as long as he was in ear shot. First gear all the way home I guess.
Oh well, I just wanted to share. Have a good week everyone.
