I am currently looking to buy a new bike and am in need of some input regarding the new generation R1. The bikes I have had in the past include 08 GSXR1000, 09 CBR1000RR, 12 Ducati 848. The question I have is two fold. First, has anyone owned the new generation CBR (08-10) and switched to the current generation R1 (09-11)? Two, can you please provide me some feedback on the differences between the two bikes; good and bad? The reason I am so reluctant to pull the trigger is because all the comparisons seem to put the R1 at the back of the pack due to low power numbers, weight and performance.
