Hello All,

With my recent move to So. Cal, I am now without the luxury of a huge garage (or garage at all now) and a repertoire of tools.

I'm trying to find a reputable place to:

flush my radiator
change the plugs
drill/install my frame sliders
do the r1 throttle conversion

Would anyone here know anyone/place that you'd recommend to do this kind of work?

Thank you in advance! If I'm able to get this stuff out of the way early, I'd definitely like to ride on the 25th!

All Industries Performance? I did a quick search on Yahoo. I'm hoping this is the place you're talking about..

How extensive has your relationship with them been?

Care for a brief explanation?

I'm really hoping to find a decent place now that I am without garage and only a mediocre range of tools.

that's the one, i've taken my bike to them for about a year now, havn't messed anything up yet, clint (one of their mechanix) used to work on graves bike (pit i think) they work with no limit racing and graves, they know their stuff when it comes to r1 and r6,

besides them, my roommate's friend raced last season (grave's r6) for dream team racing, now he is a mechanic at evolucione, but he works off the books also (plenty cheaper that way)

i havn't worked with him, but heard he knows his stuff

he lives five minutes from the bottom of Westlake road which is a windy road leading into the Santa Monica alps.

He has the best knowledge and prices in the area.

I've been using him for three years and will never go anywhere else.

Thank you for the references everyone.

I'll probably take the 6 to AIP, since they may have a little more experience w/ jetting for my 6...

dude get yourself a zip tie and 2 4mm countersunk machine screws and do the throttle conversion yourself. come on its not hard just research it online and there are instructions and if you cant change your spark plugs and flush a radiator I dont think you belong on a sport bike./ do you know how to put the key in the ignition?

Love that place -
:iamwithst Took there to get my brakes changed. Very good service, fast and friendly. As for the guy who said if you don't know how to maintain a bike you don't belong on one :finger

Hey folks...

I think the poor guy said he also didn't have the location to do it. Not just that he didn't really know how...

So, even though some people offered to do it, I think they would have to have the location as well, not just offer to do it (not that it wasn't cool that people offered).

Hey guys,

I am fairly new to the area as well. Do you guys ever get togher for a ride? I would really like to learn more areas to go. I've been up Topanga Canyon, and Angeles Crest so far. Angeles absolutely rocks by the way.

just thought i would offer because i travel from SLO to SD all the time and wouldnt mind doing a quick service for him.

plus i dont know the area to suggest a place to go, so just trying to do what i can

Wow, quite a slew of responses since I've been gone.

Thank you everyone for your input.

I've already taken the bike in for surgery. The Doc says it should be done mid day tommorrow.

*Interesting sidenote*:

As my 6 is my only means of transportation, I was in the process of calling a friend to give me a ride back to my place.

However, another rider @ AIP was also in a predicament: he couldn't single-handedly ride his bike home while concurrently driving his truck (obviously). Thus, he offered to let me follow him to his home on his ride--in exchange, he offered to give me a ride to my place!

I'll admit, trusting a complete stranger to ride his baby...it threw me back! It's just another confirmation of the comaraderie that exists between riders.

I also do work out of my garage. If you want to bring it down to Buena Park, I'll take care of it for you. I'm about 18 miles South on I-5 from the downtown LA area.

Btw, Ides, where do you park your bike if you don't have a garage? Be VERY careful parking your bike in underground parking garages, or any non-provate parking area. Not to scare you, but there are bike theft rings in the area and there are lots of bike thefts, especially new R1's! I know, my R1 and my buddy's R6 were both stolen before they were even broke in.
