I used to have Shoei RF-1000. I crashed with that helmet, my head landed first. Honestly I don't feel a thing except my neck a bit sore.
Since it's time for new helmet, I decided to try Arai Quantum 2. A bit lighter than my previous Shoei, but a lot of noise when riding.
Overall, I still like my previous Shoei better though.
Not trying to hijack the thread but I think it's of relevance. I've been using KBC's for a while now. I notice not many of you guys do. Any reasoning behind it? Are they not good quality or just a fitting preference?
I have a KBC but rarely wear it. Nothing wrong with it, I just feel like my other helmets fit my head better. I think the best choice for a helmet is one that fits your head, so as long as it is DOT or Snell approved I would have no problem wearing a helmet that fits good on my head.
Just went helmet shopping, the Arai and Shoei are both awesome helmets. However, the Shoei seems to be shaped for someone with a relatively round head and the Arai for someone with more of an ovel/egg shaped head. Have a Corsair on order.
Voted for Shoei...I have had 2 Rf-1000's and i think they are the best helmet i have ever owned...They fit like a dream, cut the outside noise out like you couldn't even imagine. I mean i was running D&D's on my last bike (05 600RR) and they didn't bother me at all... Not to mention i have already put them to the test...High sided and the first thing to hit was my head. Couldn't hear out of my left ear for 4 days I slammed myhead so hard but it saved my life and my health from ending up a vegetable. So i will run one for good.:rock
