looks likely a 2023 R1 (track only) version, just like what they did for the R6 after they discontinued it. The question is whether this 2023 is current gen or a new gen?

 

Unfortunately, I think you're 100% right.

I'm just spitballing here, but, I think it will be the current gen with no emissions and straight pipes.

 

I think they will make both. I don’t see Yamaha dumping the 1000 market

 

I didn't see them dumping the 600 market. The liter market has been shrinking and in the last 2 years, if you look at numbers, it has tanked. Hell, the folks that are buying them are putting them on the track anyhow, so why fight euro emissions and all the other slings and arrows when they can make fewer bikes for less money?

 

that would be so awful if they did...i'd be hanging on dear life to my 2018 and buy another bike just to baby the mileage on the r1 if it went that direction.

 

So the 1998 R1 and 2022 R1 - and all those in between -- will be more valuable! Then soon Yamaha will be all electric bikes.... I am ok with electric cars but motorcycles......sad!!

18,000 is a bit of a punch in the gut. Good lord.

 

I'm glad to see the Yamaha Blue lost the blah gray accents.

 

Same color from last year. Wasn't really a fan of the blue with gray at first. But it grew on me after I got my 2020, but don't really like this color. Think the gray looks better. But to each their own, right?

So the R6 is completely done, even the race-only bike. Sad to see. I don't see the 2-cylinder R7 as a suitable replacement. Between noise regulations and emissions regulations it gets tougher and tougher...

 

Yeah...if the R7 had been at least a triple, I'd have one already.

 

I see more 600’s being ridden than 1000’s.

They canned the zinger because they said it took the same amount of labor to build the pee wee as it took to build a full bike, same excuse with the 600.
