No R1 for me, but I will get one in the future.

I was searching for a new bike to replace my 2007 R6 which was wrecked by a stupid 19 year old driving a Jetta. A good friend of mine who owns a yellow 09 R1 told me I could use his bike as much as I wanted to while I bought my new bike. I took him up on his offer and rode his bike for 4 months; all I can say I fell in love with it- the power, the exhaust note, the aggressive styling made me momentarily forget about my lost R6. Unfortunately a 2009 and up R1 were out of my budget at this time. On the 22nd I made a deal on a beautiful brand new 2010 R6 Raven. I joined this forum because I thought I would buy a R1, but I got another R6, not that I am unhappy- this is the first time I have owned a brand new bike too. I might not be the owner of a R1 now, but I will in the future... Good thing my friend owns a R1 so that I can ride one from time to time. I'm pleased to be a member of this forum- I am an R1 enthusiast. Many of you have own some of the sickest R1s I've ever seen, congratulations to you all. Ride safe and keep those R1s beautiful.

This is my boy's R1

I def. felt the difference when taking it on the twisties- the R6 is more nimble for sure, but I was still surprised how good the R1 is on the twisties on it's on right despite how bulky it looks.

that thing is hot :)
Thanks bro, I had always liked this color scheme.

Not sure on the 2010 R6 but I replaced my 07 R6 with a 2010 R1. Big difference to me on handling. Don't get me wrong I love both bikes but the R6 was truly made to corner.
I know I wanted to stay Yamaha, like I said the R1s I found in my area were out of my price range. I tried to make a deal on a 2011 red/black R1, but the stealership wouldn't work with me. I'm happy though, I'm breaking her in slowly, got her with one mile, now it has 175 or so.

nice f*ckn bike,, what made you want to go with a r6 again? you could of gotten a 04-06 or so R1 for same price
Thanks bro. Gas is crazy around here, the R1 was a bit thirsty- LOL. The R6 was affordable, and well I like them alot too. I really want a 2009 and up model with the recent styling and that Crossplane crank with that wicked exhaust note- it send chills up my spine remembering it. My friends bike has Two Brothers cans on it, cagers would get scared when I would split their cages and I revved the engine- LOL.

-M- : that's not a bad idea; well I don't have the extra money at this time to have anything to do with a second bike. Maybe when I'm done with school :)
For I now I gotta get some some frame sliders, I want the Hotbodies undertail kit with turn signals and some flush mounts. Maybe a Akropovic or Leo Vance full exhaust system down the line :)
