Is it just leaking when it's sitting over night?

A motorcycle that is leaking oil is not mechanically sound, and is unsafe in my opinion.

Sorry I didn't under stand you at first, I replaced the gasket and the cover but it still leaks.

 

Try replacing the little washer that goes on the drain plug. Could be leaking from the filter to. Either it's not on tight enough or part of gasket from the old filter got left behind, which would keep the new filter from getting a good seal.

 

Before you go replacing random parts to fix a leak...why don't you actually find out where it's coming from? I dont' understand, it's oil, it comes from some place. Find that place and replace whatever is necessary...crush washer, seal, gasket, etc.

 

Yea but a crush washer is only what? $.10-.20 and you're "suppose" to replace it every oil change anyhow, but who does that?

There is a washer that will be on the drain plug bolt when you remove it from the bike. When you tighten the bolt up you literally "crush" the washer back up between the pan and the bolt for a nice seal.

 

thanks man, i cheeked it and it was ok, the oil is coming from under the cover on the right i will try some thing els to fix it. 3 weeks to track day
