Finally had time to put on my new H1's. The handling is so much different, if you ever get a chance to get a set do it.

Man those things look great but they also look like they would snap in half if you hit something
I know, they do look weak huh?

This is what PM has to say about the technology:

"20 Years of experience building high performance race wheels has inspired the ultimate in sportbike wheels! The PM Forged Revolution Aluminum wheel is a one piece unit, captured between ultra-light modular hubs, creating a wheel that is lighter then even the lightest of stock wheels and stronger than any cast wheel made! Using high pressure and temperature the non-directional grain of aluminum is changed to a high integrity multi-directional grain structure of a forging. The resulting radial grain direction places the highest material strength in the same direction as the operating loads, creating a lighter and stronger wheel. To complete the package we have also designed a matched stainless steel, full floating disc. Both the wheels and disc carriers are available in polished aluminum or hard anodized finish."

R1forlife, I'm curious how you would describe the difference... I used to have a '97 rr and now have an R1... I got those Dymag carbon/mag jobs and it's freaky how light the steering feels... you really have to pay attention when you ride so you don't drift into oncoming traffic or go off the road... you can't even perceive direction changes if you aren't watching the road... are you having that kind of experience? I'm just wondering what other people feel with A/M wheels... I got a friend with an R1 also and we sometimes trade bikes when we ride... I'm surprised how much more responsive my bike feels then his... thoughts?

Anyone interested in Dymag carbon/mag wheels can get a silver/black set on the sell pages right now... or I know you can get a set of black/red ones from Frank at Cyclemall right now for around $1950... they are the lightest and have carbon hoops which make 'em do even more of the things people want light wheels for in the first place... I can vouch for mine and say you'll be surprised.

R1forLife that bike is super-sooper sweet! I'll trade ya'! Hey seriously if you want some other stupid thing to think about modding you can find '02 calipers on ebay pretty cheap. That way your caliper bolts will match those sweet gold wheels... I picked up an ENTIRE '02 front brake package for around $150... just the calipers may be less then $100 and they actually work better to boot! Bolt right up too by the way.

The gold will:rock on a 2002 R1, that is my next bike I used to have two 2000's sold my blue one when the yellow one was almost done, you know couldn't be without a bike to ride while I was moding it out:D
Here is what the HL01 will look like on the red/white 02, but I think I like the HL02 better

what are the differences between the OZ wheels and marchesinis? i plan on putting the marchesinis on but not sure if i will go with black ones or gold ones. i like the gold but its covered too much if you have a standard swingarm and doesnt look right to me. is the price the only difference with the wheels and thats the reason people are using the OZ wheels?

OZ wheels

Well I have my OZ HL01 gold ordered but they won't be in until mid January. I ordered them off of this site, Support the Forum, got them for $1,495.00, free shipping. That is about the best price I have seen so far anywhere. Yea, that is a lot of money but I would blow it one way or the other anyway.
I can't ride right now cause of the damn snow so there is no big rush to get them. I need to get some tires for them as well and I am sort of leaning, that is a joke, toward the Michelin Pilot Sports.
I hope the gold looks as good on the Blue 02 in life as it does in my little mind.
If any body has gold with blue show us some pics. :)
Oh Yea, I found out that the Blue OZ wheels are strictly Aprilia only, too bad.

Do you guys who have aftermarket mag or carbon wheels mount tires yourselves? I'm just asking because I wouldn't trust the incompetent idiots at any dealer to mount tires on my bicycle.

I bought a tire changing kit from tireqwik.com the guy actually lives out by me and gave me a great deal. This is one of the best things I had ever bought, I change all my own tires now and have done about 30 I would guess... over the last summer. I charged all my buddies a one time fee of 20 bucks. Of course they have to help... and I dont change them for just anyone... but dealers around here wont even touch your tires and wheels unless you buy em from them.

man aftermarket sportbike wheels have finally caught up to the bikes- sweet ass designs, especially the 5 spokes- gives it that GP look. Just think, years ago, unless you drop $$$ for 3 spoke magnesium, hottest choice were the Chicanes. Pretty basic compared to OZ, etc...
