Our story:
I first started riding in Jan 2011. Bought a 2009 R6 that I taught myself on and rode (literally) until the wheels fell off. Totaled it 9 months later. I always wanted the R1 but I didn't think I was ready for a liter bike yet, so I bought a 2011 GSXR-750. Had that for 3 weeks before some a**hole stole it while it was parked at work. Insurance helped pay for a 2011 R1. I was finally happy and learning my new liter bike. Until another a**hole stole that one from home 5 months later. Was debating on whether or not it was in the cards for me to have a bike since all 3 were taken from me in one way or another.
Insurance money came in so I, on impulse, went out and bought the 2012 Raven R1. Immediately fell in love with it (and its new TCS). I work at a motorcycle and car performance shop, so almost immediately I got to work personalizing and modding it as best I could. We're not a big shop so I couldn't just throw unlimited money at it. After setting up the stock suspension, HID's, SS brake lines, and Monster Energy graphics, I was invited to take it to the SPOCOM Auto Show in Anaheim, CA in August. While there were no official trophies for bikes last year, I did get a lot of interest in the bike.
The whole idea behind the bike was to have a show quality bike that tore up the SoCal canyons every weekend. And that was accomplished. Until I wrecked it on the 405 freeway riding in the rain. After 6 hours in ER and trauma, I learned I had a broken elbow, staples in my hip, tons of road rash, dislocated shoulder, and nerve damage throughout my left arm. The bike was taken in pieces to my shop. For a week I debated ever riding again. I have a 3 year old son and was worried about leaving him too early. After that I got to work rebuilding both my bike and my body. Now, 3 months later, both of us are fixed and ready to get back to riding. While I don't have the biggest list of mods, I think my bike definitely looks good and I would love to see others impressions of it. So I now submit it for BOTM. Thanks for the consideration.
