Hook A Brother Up...

I posted this before but nobody seemed willing or able to help... I'll try again (To clarify, I just want to get a map uploaded to my PCIIIr. I can ride to your place or meet you somewhere if you run it off a laptop.)

For some reason my computer cannot find my PCIIIr when I hook it up. I have the cable (USB to Serial) in COM 6, and everything seems fine with that but when I run the program it won't find the Power Commander. I think the problem is my 6 year old computer. Or it could be the cable. I am pretty sure it is not the PCIIIr. Does anybody live near San Clemente who can help me upload a map to my PC? I have the map on disk all I need is a computer and cable that work. Or better yet, does anybody know if I am doing something wrong and can fix my setup (yes, the bike is on)?

You do know that you must have the bike running and plugged into the PC3R when you start the program dont you ?

I had the same problem, and it finally worked when I did it that way.

R1Fanatic AKA "Sweetness": I tried to do the Auto search, still nothing.

Magnus: I'll give it a try again, but I'm pretty sure I tried that (even had the bike on and plugged in before booting the computer).

orgnoi1: I have the USB driver that came with the cable. I got the USB to Serial cable from PowerCommander's website. I bought my PCIIIr used, it didn't have a cable.

dj1298: I am running XP.

Corny: I don't know why but the cable only shows up on COM6.

rezar1: If I can't get this sorted out or find somebody closer, I'll take you up on that, thanks.
