Power Wheelie Troubles!?!?!

Hi

I have a 2012 R1 (completely standard) bought from new so I know the history. The bike is fast (no doubt) and the power is great yet it seems so linear with a lack of aggression that my previous 2004 R1 had(5 valve under seat exhaust), what I really miss are the power wheelies in 1st, 2nd & 3rd!:ncont:

I was wondering if other owners feel the same thing? I have pinned the throttle in mode A no traction control and still no wheelies! :shake As I say the power is amazing, if pinned above 7000 rpm the rush is huge!

The only other thing I can think is that I owned my previous R1 in the UK at sea level and I am currently living in Johannesburg which is 1,753 metres (5,751 ft) above sea level, the general rule of thumb is a 10-20% loss of power at these altitudes...:shake

Cheers

David

My Xplane comes up easy as well. I'm also not stock tho. The bike is heavily restricted from the factory. Weather you're in A mode or STD the power is the same. Get a tune and it'll come up. Mine power wheelies 3rd with the correct BP

i hope the OP knows the wheel just hovering is the maximum acceleration, anything more than that and you are going slower than you could be...

So proper body position is over the tank keeping the front wheel DOWN :fact

:fact

once i took note of my body position(as described above) i sat an inch or 2 back on the seat and pinned it and presto! whoolies! check your body position and try again. im 6'3 240lbs and she comes up just fine now that ive made that correction.

ECU Flash is next in line:rock

My 08 will power wheelie at 8500 rpms too but the scary part with that is youre going almost 90kms/hr. I have to clutch anything under that speed even in first and the 08 even has the 520-16/47 gears. This is going to be a long winter with all this bike talk

1st was easy even bone stock. It took some mods for me to get 2nd gear to go up easy, no luck yet on third. I am not a stunter I like to power wheelie but dont look to ride wheelies for a mile down the parkway. I just get the revvs up, chop off the throttle and hit the throttle. I do not think about it just do it. If you sit further back it will come up easy. Here are two edited gopro videos

First gear:

Seond I hit the throttle at about 70mph:
