For those of you that ride the new ninja 636, will you mind telling me your pros and cons of the bike. Along with with speed to gear changes (ie 1st gear top out at about xxmph and so on.) anything on powerwheelies and about what rpm range and speed.

Any needed mods like a double bubble or puig windscreen.

Also during the deals gap convention someone had a blue one with a camera mount, if you could tell what kind of mount, where you got it, how much it was, and what kind of camcorder you had on it would be great. I have a old sharp handycam that needs to be up graded.

Sad to say that I tossed my R1 on Bld Mtn Friday afternoon and am now waiting on the insurance company to see how much I get out of my bike, so I can start looking at getting another one. If I go with a 600 the 636 is what I would like to get.

Thanks in advance for the info guys.

Whats up Jason. I was one of the guys that stayed next door to you (Michael, silver R1). I dont know a whole lot about the 636, but they are supposed to be badass. I think they come with a slipper clutch now, dont know if that will be the hot set up for bringin a wheelie back down if it gets up too far, but otherwise, thats an awesome option. I also know that I saw two guys that were insanely fast at the Gap, one of them was on a blue 05 zx6, the other was "borrowed time". :lol

My friend bought one and put some Pilot Power on it. Best bike i ever ride, it's fast, light, quick sterring, has a slipper clucth and i know it's geared shorter but in second gear it power wheelie easier than my GSXR 1000 .

I would buy one this afternoon if i could.

you are talking about dan at the convention (finsl) is his screen name seemed like a great bike said it was great and yes it comes with a slipper clutch. the mount i forgot where he got it but check with marshal he got his and it is alittle better mount then what dan had. he said it needed a steerin dampner was his only complaint that i know of so far

I've got a 03 636 that I put a slipper clutch in, penske and other mild stuff and I love it. The only thing I would do is a puig double bubble and a damper. I ran mine a week with no damper, it's got crazy head shake. My buddy has a 03 RR and his has head shake bad also.

I've only sat on one, but I tell you one thing I didn't like. In a standard riding position you can't see the speedo and tach without looking through the windscreen. If you put a dark smoke windscreen (which I typically do) you can only see it when tucked in. The majority of my riding is commuting, so I can see that being a annoying thing there. I've ridden a ZX-10r and it didn't seems to have this problem.

mike glad to see you guys made it back in one piece, hopefully with no more tickets. i would fight the one speeding ticket since you were in a group theres no way to tell which vehicle it was. Also most radar guns pick up the largest vehicle in the area in both directions of travel ( were there any other vehicles that were say within a half mile of you guys like a truck going in either direction.) Radar guns work like a cone or triangle from the gun there is a very narrow beam but the farther out the beam goes the larger area the beam covers and picks up more vehicles. Just some food for thought if you decide to fight it.

Anyways thanks for all the info on the new 636. It does sound like a great bike for a 600. It would just be weird stepping down from a 1000. I have sat on the bike and the instrument cluster is a pain to see but overall didnt seem too small for me at 5'11". The slipper clutch is a big feature, I like to downshift from high speeds and hate the rear wheel hop.

Mainly just courious about performance. In reading about it a 1000 will hit 150mph in 10sec or less and the 600 in 20sec. not that i go that fast all the time but I like to get there quickly. Anyone know how the balance point is. is it lower than the r1 and more like a gsxr.
thanks

I think we are just gonna suck this one up. The ranger said that if we fight the tiket and lose, it will be reported to the DMV of our state. That sounded like BS to me, because as far as I know, pleading guilty and being found guilty is the same in the end. But Im not a judge or a cop. Either way, its only $120, and the court is a LONG way from home. And on top of that, we were basically escorted out of the park on our way home because a ranger "heard us speeding". No ticket, but had we stayed in the park Im sure they woulda thrown the book at us. Apparently they recognized us right away and we arent too welcome there :dunno

My buddy Dave (the guy with the Gixxer) got a chance to ride a new zx6 just the other day. He said the gauge cluster is miserable, he had to look through the wind screen to see it, and he is shorter then you for sure. Other then that, he said the thing has big nutts compared to the 01 gixxer 600 he used to have.
