R1 ....200mph

I don't have my R1 yet.

I know how unsafe it is to ride at those speeds... But what would you have to do to a stock R1 to get it to the 200 MPH marker?

I was thinking a bigger exhaust and a shot of nos might do the trick, but I haven't riden a R1 to its limits but those of you who have, what would I need to buy to add to it to get it to the 200mph mark?

Thanks in advance.

I know what your thinking....

No I will not when/if I ever get it up at that speed...

I have access into reese airforce base which is here where I live, and my dad works out there and I have access to the runways.

I have more than enough sense to even attempt that on the hwy.

The bike will do 170 that is only 30 mph hour slower than you want to go , isnt that good enough. I think 170 and 200 feel the same.

I am wanting to record it going 200 to prove a point... I know it does 170, thats why I thought an exhaust and maybe even a shot of nose will carry it that high.

Thanks again.

I think a majority of people perception of how much hp needed is way off.. I just read an article on the 1661cc busa... it made 250+hp and 143lb/ft of torque and it was only able to do 206mph

For R1 do go that fast you will need turbo no doubt. I used to say I needed to go 200 before I died. I have been to an indicated 186, and to be honest, after doing it a few times, I'm actually quite bored with it. Hell on our sunday ride last week, we were flying the corners, got to the huge straight, and slowed down to wait for laggers, well we were going 45 in the 35, and the lagger saw us up ahead, decided to play catch up and got a phat ticket. I have noticed that we as a group that ride together every sunday, juts ease it through the straights now. The thrill just isnt there anymore.

200 is just a stupid round number
change your speedo to read in km/h that way u'll wanna reach the 300km/h mark , so it will be easier

I have alot of dirt bike riding time under my belt, and I have been on r1's and r6's... I'm not stupid I know how to ride.

You need your head examined before you even attempt to sit on an R1. Get your license, do a couple of years on some 600cc machines and then tell us you want to do 200mph. you probably fall off the back of the bike! learn to ride before you fly!

Oh well, as seeing how trying to get into the 200mph club isn't go well I shall try another time...

I'm not some 17 y/o new to bikes jackass that wheelies through town and speeds on the hwy, I have seen to many people make that mistake.

Theres nothing I can really say to change your mind on the subject...

anyway...

you've been watching too much biker boyz.. in the real world teens + fast bike dont mix. IMO you need to have street experience and I would say at least aged 22 or older with years of street exp to ride an R1, 1000rr etc.

its the same argument you see everywhere
"i ride dirtbikes but i am going to buy a 160hp bike and try to do 194023987452109875 MPHz with my nawwwwzzzz"
im sorry but untill you prove yourself to be something other than the stereotype the others before you have set forth....then your just a dumbass kid who will die before 20

Man I would have loved to have had an R1 at 17 years old, so I completely understand your desire. However, now that I'm much older (in body only), I have realized that if I did, I probably wouldn't be alive right now.

Nobody is going to convince you about what bike you're gonna get, so let's just say this:

1. To answer your question directly, YES it will be a very complicated project to get your bike capable of going 200mph (true speed). Turbo required, and probably a lot of other expensive mods.
2. If a stock R1 is not fast enough for you, ESPECIALLY as your first bike, you have serious issues.
3. If you want to go 200MPH just to prove a point to someone, you really have no business on a sportbike, period.

When im on a R6 I feel very uncomfortable, i'm 6ft tall... when im on a R1 it feels like its ment to be.

I know that your all going to tell me that I will kill myself, and I know its more than possible, even if I am very careful. I have heard this for years.

when I get it, if you live here we could go riding and I would show you what i know, other than that just believe what your going to believe...

Anyway I take everything into consideration, I know how powerful an R1 is and what it can do... I don't think making at thread about taking one up to 200MPH wasn't a good first impression, but that was my mistake... as for the NAWWWWZZZZ I know where that came from, I haven't ever used nitrous, im an all motor type of guy, I just knew it was going to be the cheapest way to help.

At the moment I drive a 98 silverado Z71 lifted 6 inches running 33's flowmaster exhaust and K&N intake.

when I was 15 I had a 91 camaro RS that ran like a bat out of hell... but I had to sell it do personal reasons.... no I didn't wrap it around a tree... (I know thats what your thinking)

Sounds like a plan, Also if you have the urge to run the the mall while no ones there I can get you in... I work nights there...

I will let you know by thursday when the airstrips are free.... the police use them to teach drivers sometimes and I forgot who eles has access to them...

I was planning on buying mine at stovals yamaha... is that a pretty good place to buy one? I used to go there alot but now that I have my job I haven't gotten a chance.

Thanks----

your better off buying your bike out of altus oklahoma...stovals will rip you a new ass as far as price goes... never been a big fan of them, i was wanting a R1 way back when and they wouldnt budge on the price and they were wanting nearly 1k over msrp, i laughed, thanked them, and drove to odessa to buy a used gix 750, and never regretted it
