Hi Friends.

So I have purchased my dream bike finally, and it's not all fun and games.

I am not rich and cannot afford the latest model. I just turned 25 and came to Dubai for work 5 years ago with zero skillset.

after 2 years of savings i bought my first ever liter bike (r1 2011 18k kms ,11k miles) 7k USD, (26000 AED).

At first I was happy with it and tried to take as much care of it as possible , I would clean and wash it every 1 or 2 days, so that it looks shiny new and taken care of.

But my dumbass didn't know that washing it is taking off the lube off an already shitty chain the previous owner put. which was a lil tight as well. and one faithful day ,11 days after i bought it , i run it at 270kmh and thankfully it doesn't brake cuz that would've taken me down bad, it broke an hour after that when i was right outside a motorcycle garage going 50 kmh.

Aftermath

So after that, i get a new chain which is (1-197 - CHAIN DID 530-120 ZVMX) (-228.72 USD).

I take it from the garage with a new chain thinking nothing will go wrong now i will take care of the chain and lube it after everywash.

Before i take it from the garage they told me (there's a bad noise coming from the clutch and if left unrepaired it is going to blow up and destroy the engine, Same thing has happened to the 2 same gen r1s we have here) gave me an estimate of (680 USD) for "Clutch Plates".

I ride it home with a worry that it can blow up anytime , take it to another garage that I trust better and would've given me the same chain for 54 USD less, They at first tell me that this sound is normal and is common in my gen r1s.

Video I took that day.

The garage owner that i trust more tells me that it's nothing to worry about so It takes a huge load off my heart and i ride home happy not worrying about the vibration i feel when i disengage the clutch on neutral at a red light , (That vibration goes away when i pull in the clutch).

I get the bike services a day later from the same garage that i trust, (-230 USD)

Now that day the biggest Yamaha group chat organizes a small 40 kilometer ride and i HAVE to be a part of it. I go there and the person btw who organized the ride and is the leader is the owner of the 2nd garage i went to. I ride beside him a couple minutes and my stupidass loves to rev the bike (But not redline) till 10k rpm and let go to make the bike shoot a foot long flames from both akrapovich exhaust occasionally.

what i used to do was , while riding aroud 60 50 mph, 90-120 kmh, I would pull in the clutch and rev the bike
till 10k-11k rpm and while it would go down it would throw a huge double barrel fireball at eyelevel of people behind me it is an awesome machine. (But obviously i would do it two or 3 times everytime i rode).

The ride comes to an end and the garage owner tells me that my clutch has a problem because im abusing it, I did not know that and am flabbergasted lol. So he explains how im destroying the clutch by half clutching it and pulling in clutch while riding and letting it pop and revving it till 10-11k, and my clutch basket is going to get destroyed and i should get that replaced soon.

now im back to being a worried person because i dunno if i should keep riding the bike or if i am using the clutch right, i take it once or twice to my office which is a round trip of only 18kilometers, but there's clutch and i have to keep pulling in clutch and let go of it constantly . pulling in half clutch and everything...

I am not sure what im doing wrong and how exactly i should control the clutch, or if my engine will blow up anytime.

(P.S: when i service the bike i learned that it has even more issues:
throttle body intake manifold rubber need to replace
throttle body vacuum plugs need to replace)

Please help me answer these questions and put my mind at ease.

what are some Dos and Dont's with clutch usage?

Am i going to blow up the engine if the clutch is left untreated for a couple thousand more miles?

or should i just give up and sell it? cuz it might blow up anytime ?

The clutch is fine and when it does go it absolutely will not blow the motor. It’ll just burn up and stop grabbing, you’ll feel the bike slip and not be as fast as normal, and then you’ll simply replace the clutch.

He's trying to screw you over

pulling the clutch it while at speed, revving the bike, and dumping the clutch can wear the clutch out faster, but nothing crazy. Just don’t do it all the time. Bike sounds normal in the video. You’ve got plenty of life left in that clutch as long as you take care of it.

what you need to do right now is take that bike to a place that can change and flush all the fluids, and I mean all the fluids.

then, stop washing it every two days. Get some cleaner spray and wipe it down. No need to spray water all over the bike so much when a soft cloth and some spray will do the job.

That's awesome but unfortunately I am completely retarded when it comes to mechanical stuff, I literally work above a car garage so i have access to literally every tool i might need. I might learn slowly but i for sure have to learn some basic stuff.

Edit: Ok Im not retarded when it comes to mechanical stuff, i worked on a couple 160cc bikes. but this 1000cc is like a spaceship to me, i just dont wanna mess anything up. for example : Now i need a new rectifier according to the garage and im thinking of ordering a cheap one online and doing it myself and i dunno how to do that, Time to google n youtube.
