R1 VS All Cars & Roll On's

I have a friend who is an avid R1 fanatic. He’s a crazy guy who enjoys riding Busa’s through mountain passes and a happy R1 owner (reason why I got mine). Anyway….

He says I should avoid messing with (not in any order):

1) High class Ferrari’s and Lamborghinis
2) Supra’s (especially the mod ones)
3) Nissan Skyline
4) Dodge Viper’s
5) Turbo Porsche’s
6) Nissan 300Z’s
7) Ford Mustang Saline

And a few others….

Except for the Ferrari’s and Lamborghinis, I have a hard time believing that a R1 can’t match if not excel over the rest of the cars.

Some argue that at around 65 MPH+ that a R1 liter bike can’t launch ahead of those cars by a ‘Roll On’?????

For instance…here’s a R1 vs 750hp TT 300Z (yeah yeah this video is a repost):

http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=281D9756-3A9B-4BC7-BA5B-03D06DACFA66&term=R1&p=0

With 750HP you would imagine that it would outrun an R1 at ‘Roll On’ speed, but in this video the R1 keeps up if not stays ahead of the 300Z.

Being that the R1 has so much power packed into it, is light weight (compared to a car), and made to be nimble, it’s hard to believe that there are really any cars on the road that can beat an R1 at ‘Roll On’ speed. I haven’t found any cars that can jet past my R1.

It seems that liter bikes would be the king of the road when compared to all other cars except for perhaps the Ferrari and Lamborghini type cars.

Ideas? Links? Thoughts? Videos?

Have fun and stay safe!

Beyond 150mph the poor aerodynamics of motorcycles will play the decisive role (in favour of cars)
Below 150mph the better hp/weight ratio of motorcycles will give you an advantage.

Well, look at it this way...

R1 does the quarter in the mid 9's for a really REALLY good rider. Lets say mid 10's for average riders who enjoy their rides.

All you have to do is check out various forums to see what the cars pulls in the quarters. There are PLENTY of fast cars out there. You just havent met them on the road yet.

When you do, you will be amazed that something that big ( heavy ) can power past you.

Its just a matter of time.

I look at it like this, a liter bike costs 12k? a car to beat a liter bike needs to be 90-100 K minimum.... good value:D
For some reason I just think this is a terrible comparison. Who cares about he prices your comparing apples to oranges. 90-100k minimum? Try about half that price if that.:beer

I've been up against many of those cars and flat out smoked them on my stock bikes. Some of the drivers weren't ballsy enough to push it that hard and some just couldn't flat out drive. It works the same way for riders as well, I see a lot of guys getting beat when they shouldn't have, they just can't ride and/or are scared.

I've beaten guys with 800HP Supras, Vipers, Vettes, Mustangs, etc. Usually around 150 I stop pulling on them and by 165 they start to catch back up.

As stated there's always someone faster, there's guys out here with 500HP Busas and 1200HP Supras.

first of all...the guy on the r1 sucked...so if thats how you ride then you'll get beat too.
i've beaten a modena who had the jump on me. porsche turbo, Z06, modded supra...all beaten.
it all depends on the ridah...if you're afraid to wring on the throttle, you will get beaten.

if you suck...you'll get beaten by some pimpled face kid in a civic.

I know someone with a TT Viper that can eat most turbo Busa's so he would make short work of an R1. No matter what you have there is always going to be someone faster.
I hear he in fact roasts stock Busa's but admitted the only Turbo Busa he raced was a guy who couldn't ride very well...
