Here you go. It's not really blocking the speedo, it just looks like that from the angle I took the photo at.

I had one years ago on my 600, it was a Bell one, made for motorcycles (or so the ad read), it mounted to the windscreen with suction cup mounts (before stem stands). It only lasted one ride . . . on a bumpy stretch of highway it jumped to its death

when I turned around to get it, a 4 x 4 pickup ground it into the blacktop, its guts were all over the highway :crash

never bothered to revisit the radar thing again . . . traumatized for life :lol :lol :lol

And another thing, where did you guys tap into the wiring harness to attach the radar wiring?? i mean all you need is a 12V key on power source, headlights? fuel pump? i would imagine the radar draws such little power you can tap into just about anything right?

I got a car cigaratte lighter cord extender and a wired it off the battery lead then routed the power cord through the bike and plugged it in under the back seat. Nothing permanent and I can use the cord and detector in my car in the winter.

The Valentine came with dual set up. A straight cord and a box to direct wire which i did under the seat and ran the cord hidden around and under the tank. Another coiled cord i use with the lighter adapter in the car. I just pop it out of the car and onto the bike or back. I use it ALL the time in both the car and on the bike.

No one said you had to trust them, but they do help...... that M Mount looks ok, i just wish i could see it mounted on a bike to see exactly how it looks and to see what it blocks, ya kno
Here's a pic of it on a zx-12. Pretty much the same thing.... You can adjust it so it doesn't really have to cover anything. This is your best option in your situation. :yesnod

Does anyone know if the "m" stand will fit an 03 it says up to 02 not up to and including ? Anyway thanks , Im sure I could mod it to make it work ....AD. I thought a stem stand would be tits , until someone said something about the damper.......DAMN.

Yes the M stand will fit the 2003 R1(it's the same has the 2002)

As far as Radar detectors being a waste.....most are.

Go get yourself an Escort X-50, V1 or Beltronics Pro RX65 and you will see and hear added protection.....lazer your on your own.

You've been running a walmart $100 radar detector haven't you ?

Hey thanks 02R1 , I agree about the detectors, I own a V1 , the biggest problem about people and detectors is that they dont understand that it is simply a tool , and if not used propperly the results will be sub-standard!

#23 ·
Yeah you can't trust a radar detector because all they do is warn....if you don't slow down or if it's a false alert and you slow down your still safe(slowing down for nothing)

Some people think I should never get a ticket with a radar detector.....mean while never slow down either :crash

I mounted my M-mount on the the fairing stay, gauge support thingy. I drilled a little hole and ran a bolt up to it......this way the mount is mounted low and you can have the detector centered right above the gauges.....it works ok. I can't run it off the mirror bolts becuase of clearance with the R-bars I have.

So youre saying with the standard bars the "m" mount will work fine? Thanks AD.

you have pics of the R1 mounting set up you did? thanks .
