I'd like to replace the ignition key assembly on my 2009 R1 with a kill switch, similar to what you see on race bikes. Does anyone know of any kits that can be used to do this?

Ok...found this thread which seems to do a good job of explaining how to rewire the ignition so it runs off of the kill switch on the throttle side. Its on an R6 but I imagine the wiring is same. The only thing I'm concerned about is that the ECU wire has some kind of resistor that needs to be in place to make this work.

There are 2 ways to set this up the first way is with a toggle switch placed any were you wish, the other way is to set it up so it goes on and off using your stop/run switch.
The first thing you will need to buy is the MAIN SWITCH STEERING part #2635545 find one that’s unusable you don’t need the key part just the wire and connector.

Next you will have to cut the wires closest to the ignition. You will see 5 wires inside, find the brown wire and get rid of it completely. Next you want to find the 2 thin wires and connect them together using solder or tape if you want.

The remaining 2 wires are what you will hook your switch up to that’s it. Put the switch were ever you want.

For the other way using the engine cutoff switch I have to look at the wire diagram again but you repeat all the same steps as above just tie up the 2 small wires together and tie the 2 big wires together and get rid of the brown wire. Then you have to go into the main harness and make a connection, let me look right now.

Please send me this information for the keyless ignition. I'm doing it to my 09 R1 track bike. I've made my own wires for the switch. I replaced the one white plug but there are a few more wires which I don't know what they are plugging into something else. I want to think it's a ground but it's a few wires not just one. When I use my new home made wires it's able to power the dash but won't turn over the engine. So I removed the triple tree to get to the bottom of the ignition where it bolts onto the tree. I am attempting to open it up and try to figure something out but I'll wait for a response from you. If you want to call/text me for pictures my number is 908-413-2312 thanks for any info.
