Reservoir Hose ID Size? What Material Can Be Used?

So I was wondering what is the ID for the hose used for the reservoirs on the '07 - '08 R1 or any other year I would assume ???

Next what type of material can we get away with for the reservoir tubing ???

I havent dipped into this area before so I have no clue what would handle brake fluid to prevent sweating etc. etc. :dunno

I ran into some Tubing and Cable Coat Kits on the Venhill site:

http://www.venhill.co.uk/Brake_lines_and_clutch_line_fittings/POWERHOSE/ACCESSORIES

Would Nylon tubing stand up to the test of brake fluid ???

What is the Cable Coat Kits, anyone know? Are they just sleeves for your tubing ???

I thought this would be a good thread to answer some other members with less experience questions as well. Searched and see this has been touched on a little so I thought it wouldnt hurt to dive back into this again. Thanks.

Yamaha OEM master cylinder tubing sizes-

Front reservoir tubing- 6mm ID
Rear reservoir tubing- 10mm ID

I'm not sure of the chemical composition of the after market tubing, but Fred Renz at Yoyodyne can tell you exactly what it is :secret:

Yoyodyne now sells the green tubing kit (10mm) by Agras for the rear below :thumbup

Thanks Rorlow! If you remember I had that previous thread going where I asked the location of some colored tubing but I really never dipped into the size and/or material that can be used which is why I fired this thread up.

Sorry mang, did a "Search" on "tubing" in the titles without many results. Streetfighters thread http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230038&highlight=tubing was never answered and the HRC threads didnt come up with much and even after doing much searching on the net HRC is a hell of a time to find. A alternative to YoyoDyne was what I was looking for so this is why I posted.

I am one that does search on here before posting so please .... back off man!!!:finger

I kid I kid, I know the BST thread has everyone a little grumpy which is why you should go check out this thread now Blur1:

A whole new thread for everyone to jump on !!! If you read my post in there I got a real kick out of seeing someone else starting a new thread. :chair:

So I talked to Fred and he filled me in that the type of tube/hose we have to use for brake line reservoir fluid is EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer)

So far my investigations have come down to finding it only in a Black, Clear and a Natural color. I will continue to look for it in other colors and will post again if I do find something. :secret:

Im sure if I can find it in many colors a lot of people on here would most likely want it so I think it'll be worth the search. :thumbup
If I cannot find it easily I will just go ahead and phone a few of the different manufacturers and ask if they can whip me up something custom and how much it will cost.

I guess also if enough members on here want the colored EPDM tubing we could try a group buy or something else of the sorts. :dunno

If anyone else has a few minutes and can try a search that would really help in the process.:rock

like i've said.....this has been done to death. what you are looking for doesn't exist.
just get the clear and use coloured fluid.
or the green ten-kate hose and take your chances on sweating.( my rear hose no longer sweats)

worth noting, the ID of the rear resevoir hose on the 09 is 8 mm not 10 mm, not sure if earlier years would be the same, but might be worth checking.

I brought an HRC brake kit for mine, and ended up having to get some 8mm tubing.
