i just got this video tonight. it's approx 40mins long, i bought the DVD.
In my opinion the video starts out kinda slow, but finishes strong. Right away it was appearant to me the editing work was done by people who don't generally do editing work for a living (which, in all fairness, is par for the course when it comes to most cycle vids).
The video picks up quickly, although i'm not exactly in love with the initial music they use.. a little too "death rock" for my tastes.
After the first few minutes i was enjoying myself a good deal, though. The music in the later parts of the video i enjoyed (a little more "rock" than just "death rock" style), and the wheelies are good. Nick Hill (red n white 929RR) and the other guy on the Yellow Blade (forget his name) both ride crazy high wheelies like they oughta be ridden. There's a good mix of tricks.. 11 o-clock cross-up/highchair wheelies, tank wheelies, heel clickers, fifty-fifties, and a fair amount of stoppies, at least half a dozen that are 100+ foot.. and one that was ~300foot.
The representation of other stunt stuff is there too, there's some XR50 footage (jumping streetbikes, donuts, etc), just plain "let's ruin a motorcycle" footage of what looks like it once was an F3, some wreck footage, and short segments of other groups (they say 1096 was in there along with kyle woods, although i only noticed GMO on my first run-thru).
There's also some R1 representation, which is a refreshing thing.. don't see a lot of R1 stunting nowadays in video, aside from darius' video. I wouldn't say there's a TON of R1 stuff, but it's nice to see even some. There are some short 12's on R1's which is cool, since everyone and their mom always complains you can't 12 the r-weezy, so it's cool to see that everyone else's dissenting comments don't stop the ScooterTrashST boys.
In the end, i felt like my $25 (including shipping) was well spent, and i'll watch this video at least another 4-5 times tomorrow and probly 30-40 in the next month or two.
On a 1 to 10 scale
Music: 6 Nothing bad in anyway, but nothing i "loved." although this is perfectly acceptable for a film done on a budget.
Editing: 7 The editing was smooth throughout most of the film, and although the first 1-2 minutes i felt could use some work, the rest of the film was up to snuff. The only other editing complain i had was the over-use of negative-image filters and other effects that tend to scream "look i just learned i can make things look funky if i press this button in Final Cut Pro!" The way the credit titling was done with the credits on the left half, and two different outtake shots running on the right half was cool, and surely i will have to watch the video 5 more times before i've managed to read all the credits AND see all the video at the same time.
Stunts: 8 The stunts were the best part, and that's why i like this video. I don't expect a huge budget for editing and soundtrack stuff, and as long as the video has heart that's all that matters. Nothing in the video stunt-wise made my jaw drop, but that's pretty friggin hard to do nowadays, and i would say i was pretty well entertained with the stunts. The variation was nice (seeing just all wheelies or whatever gets old quick), and everyone shown was quite competent.
Overall: 7 Overall, i rate this film as a 7. There are places it could improve, but there are a lot of stuntfilms that aren't as good. I would reccomend this film; it's a good watch, and these guys help to progress this sport.
Anyone else who has seen this video feel free to post your reviews, or if you have a comment about my review or whatever, go for it.
