Hey everybody. So I was approached by my manager at work today and asked if I would ride the store's general manager through the store on my bike for her "grand entrance" to the Year beginning meeting we're having this sunday. Now I am bit weary about this for a few reasons. I'd like to know what you all think. Now i'd be riding her maybe 200-300ft very slowly in first gear with both feet hovering over the ground. here are my concerns:
1. I work at Sam's Club. The floors are SUPER smooth concrete. Light reflects off of them they are so smooth(and slick) Is that going to be an issue?
2. She's over 250lbs, and im right at 202lbs. Is this to much weight for the R1?

Anybody else had such a weird request for the use of their bike before?
Thanks in advance.

1. You should not have a problem if you go slow... BUT I would not make any turns for sure. AND before she tries to even get on/off I would have the stand put down.
2. HOLY CRAP!! YOU MIGHT WANNA CHECK WITH YOUR 2002-2003 OWNERS MANUAL ON WEIGHT RESTRICTION!! That alone personally would keep me from doing it. But that's my .02c
3. I've had a girl say she wants to have sex on my bike before. But that's not weird because I get it like once a week!!!:fact

If its your boss and the firm wants you do it - Do it. I don't think you would stress your subframe on a flat surface.

She obviously ain't a small woman though, probably look hilarious.

Quoting the handbook weight limit won't exactly endear you to your boss.

Post some pictures afterwards.

250 pounds :flex: See if you can borrow someones Harley. Brief her before hand on not to make any sudden side to side movements.

Yea I just found it. I dont have the original manual I had to look it up on yamaha's site. Max load for a 2002 R1 is 445lbs. Another guy at work has a old harley, maybe i'll shrug this joy ride off on him. I better not get in trouble for saying no. especially since the reason i'm saying no is cause she's too fat. haha i feel bad for saying no but i dont want to break my baby. :no

I would say that max load figure is intended for actually riding around and handling purposes. You should be fine. The max figures are ALWAYS on the safe side. I was part of a test for a 25 man life raft for commercial airliners. That life raft was for a max of 25 people. We had to test it to over 250% capacity with only ONE of the two cells inflated. We had 69 people piled up in that thing and it still floated.

oh and there are no cutie pies that work there :-/ and everybody already knows i have the bike. i would like to score some points with the upper management though.
you should be fine if you can ride 445lbs on a road you can curse 460 or so on flat goround there wont be any jolting of the subframe youll be fine good luck on the brownie points

If it helps, I had a friend with a GSXR600 crack his subframe when his girlfriend rode on it a couple of times. He couldn't have weighed more than 130lbs, but she was a big girl. I would personally find a very good excuse why you could not do it.

Well see she's got bad knees and I wasn't even sure that she'd be able to get on it but she said "i been on one of them bikes before" so ehh. So i guess i'm worrying more about when she gets on or off if she's gonna trip or something and bring me and the bike down with her.

yea they know i've got the seat on the back. They ask for rides alot, but the ones that ask for rides are over weight and kinda scary so my excuse thus far has been i only have one helmet. but for this use going slowly across the floor i dont think that excuse will work.

Just tell them you are worried about the slick concrete and laying it down and that you would hate for her to get hurt. That you just couldn't forgive yourself it that were to happen. And if they keep pushing then tell them the truth, put it nicely but I am sure it is no secret to her how much she weighs. Tell them that over loading it could cause a structural failure that could injure you both. Most companies would just hate to be unsafe so play the safety card.

you should be fine, oh and stiffen up your rear suspension otherwise ............ no ... nevermind, your ass end will be sagging forsure, lol but do your best to adjust the rear suspension.

But ya man you have to do it, telling your boss you can't because shes too fat im sure wouldn't go over too well !!! LOL, but hey I'd pay to see that conversation !
