I hope he died on impact and didnt suffer, I know this area of the road, some very very fast sweepers and the road is very wide so riders tend to think they can fly through there, there is a decent size dip in one of the curves.
For the second time this past weekend, a crash has claimed the life of a Marion County resident.
Matthew John Reynolds, 20, of Ocala, was killed early Sunday morning when the motorcycle he was riding jumped a curb and smashed into a concrete telephone pole, the Florida Highway Patrol reported on Sunday.
The accident occurred along a bend in Southwest 60th Avenue, near the intersection of 52nd Street, according to the FHP's report.
No other vehicles or people were involved.
According to the report, Reynolds was riding a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Southwest 60th Avenue when the motorcycle traveled over the curb near the intersection. The motorcycle hit the utility pole, tossing Reynolds into a low area on the shoulder of the road near a wire fence. He died at the scene.
It was unknown whether Reynolds was wearing a helmet, according to the report. The report also does not indicate whether alcohol or other substances or the vehicle's speed were factors in the crash.
Troopers noted the time of the crash was around 2 a.m. Sunday, but that was an estimate.
Reynolds' body was not discovered until around 11 a.m. Sunday.
An investigator at the scene said the condition of his remains indicated he had been there for several hours, and added that the shadow from the pole and the drop-off of the road's shoulder likely prevented passers-by from seeing the accident.
Reynolds was the second person killed on Marion County roads in 2012.
