hey all,

I ordered a set of the Rizoma grips for the 2007 R1, but have absolutely no idea on how to install them. This is my first throttle-by-wire bike, and I'm just wondering if they are any different. The grips I put on my old bikes were easy, especially on the left hand side, I just used a small, long flat head screw driver and sprayed from windex to help slip them off. Any input will help, thanks guys!!

hey all,

here's the grips along with the rear sets they have. i liked these because the throttle side does not need that weird tube, since they are billet. they are great for the price, about $52 plus shipping. also offered in different colors, and optional bar ends.

They replace the entire throttle tube on your right bar.

Open the right side switchgear and disconnect your throttle cables. You might have to loosen the cables to do this. Remove the stock grip and the plastic sleeve it mounts on.

Select the adapter that came with the grips that most closely matches your stock attachment, and install the cables on it, then slide the billet throttle grip up the right handlebar and snap the adapter and grip together and re-adjust the cable slack and reassemble your switch housing.

On the left side it's just two setscrews.

Thanks for posting. I just discovered Rizoma about 3 days ago and plan on getting almost all of my accessories through them. Including my rearset.

Beautiful, functional and unique.

Rizoma Red Grips

Here's my 05 with Red Rizoma Grips with the Brake resevoir and Blinkers. Also there's Woodcraft case slider. On order are the Rizoma Bar extentions, mirrors and rearsets with the rear brake resevoir, can't wait.

The grips are uncomforable compared to the factory but do look better. They are easy to put on. They are difinely high quality produced which gave me confidence to go for it with the extra parts. I plan on more but the cost stings a little at least till I get them on.

How to:
Just remove the old Throtte grip and exchange the geared ring to fit, re-attach the cables and put back together. Make sure the pin lines up with the hole on the bar for placement. On the clutch side, twist off the old grip with pliers or cut off then apply silicone on the bar and inside the grip and slide on. You can clean of any extra silicone with denatured alcohol. Try to keep it from going down the inside of the grip, it will weaken the silicone. Tighten the screws on the grip and let dry overnight.

I'll add the pics after I get the new parts.
