I posted in the mechanical help section but it's not getting any views.
can someone please do me a favor. go wiggle your shift shaft where it goes into the block and see if it has any play in/out and side to side. mine is leaking oil and I don't think it's supposed to move like this.
my R6 shaft is solid.

I will check in a bit and advise

A couple of thou or 2 in/out, nothing side to side

thanks dude. yeah then mine is fubar then. mine moves like there is nothing holding it. like there is no bearing behind the washer and clip.

EDIT. well on closer examination maybe it's not as bad as I thought. it sure did seem like it moved a ton the other day when I was checking the front sprocket nut. it does move in and out a lot more than my R6.

it moves in and out I'd say about a 5/64. I'd have to measure it. but that's my best guess. a little more than my R6. side to side it's about 1/16 or more. it is supposed to be lubed with engine oil according to the manual. so I'm hoping that's what I am wiping off of it. it's not pouring out or anything like that. but it is pretty wet. i have not ridden it in 2 weeks due to weather to keep testing all this stuff.
I also notice with the shifter arm installed it doesn't move as much side to side. almost none at all. but it still does in and out.
I pulled the clip off and looked behind the washer, the bearing is for sure there. and so is the oil seal. I can't imagine the bearing is bad.
I may go and wiggle one in a showroom and see if it's about the same.

what sucks is you can't pull the shaft out of the block without pulling it apart again. or maybe you can if it goes all the way over into the clutch basket. with all the other little things I have found wrong I am really freaking out about this.
it does shift up and down just fine.
