So Im looking at a 2009 R6 and 2008 R1 both brand new I can get the R1 for $9600 out the door and for the R6 for around 8700 out the door.

I current have 2002 R6 I have had it for 7yrs. I have ridin the 2008 R1 and I love it but I have never been on a new 2009 r6 yet. I know the R1 has more torque and power is a over all faster bike, but I want your guys thoughts. Im not a big wheely guy, I love the curves and dragging my knee Im not a stunter at all...

i had 600 and i loved to ride on it but everytime i use to ride with 1000 close to me i feelt like i was pushing to hard to stay with them while they where just crusing, even though i was happy with my ZX6R 636 that was the only time when i was feeling a need for more torque and HP. other then that i was happy and loved it.

Anyway Saturday i got my self a new bike and that is R1 09 i had a chance to ride it for like 30 miles before i put it on my garage and it's raining since, but i must tell you flawles gorgeous powerfull. One think i was missing from my 636 i wasen't changing gears that much on my new R1 i think i can do 2nd gear at all times maybe 3rd the most while in 636 you work it more.

So i think it's personal preference one think on mind whatever you buy make sure that's what you wan't.

I voted R1 since R6 dosen't do it for me.

all my friends who have r6s and ride with me ALL, and I mean every single one wants to sell their r6 and get an r1. Does that answer your question?:thumbup

I'm voting for the R1 (this is the R1 Forum after all!). The bike is a great all-around fun bike.

You can't go wrong either way. That definitely sounds like a good price to me for a brand new R6.

r6... better for the twisties. and the 09 is a FUN bike

yes, they habdle very well, but a 600 can be thrown around a lot quicker, plus it doesnt have as bg of issues with traction. All the power put down by the liters, the back tire has a tendency to break loose

Its up to you, any bike is fun they are all fast!! I hear everyone with the 6 say they grew out of it and wished the had a r1. The r1 has so much power i havent even begun tapping into it yet, never enough road!!!

Im not sure were you get off saying that, its call asking people for the point of views, I bet almost everyone on this forum has ridden a R6 at one point and time.

i have not voted because i dont know totally what you like best as a rider

when you jump on a 1000 the first thing people want is the power, and most people dont look beyond that and looks

as much fun as 1000 looks they are a bigger to hussle about and will take your time to learn that, if you ride your R6 really well your riding will probarly go backwards until you master the diffrent riding style

if you are a corner speed monster then there is a chance you may not like the R1

if i was you i would go to a dealer and get a long test ride on an R1 before making a choice
Well I had my buddies R1 for about 2 weeks it is 2004 R1. I know its not 09 but I wouldn't get the 09 R1 I can't stand the way it looks, that motor is damn impressive but it doesn't look as good as the 08 I have place by me that has two brand new 08s still. I ride it everyday in the summer to work and on the weekends I do like to either go to the track or just go find some twisities around my place.

interesting that most Uk main dealers will have demonstrators of the top sportsbikes for people to try before they buy, some are free, some charge you ?25 and give it back if you buy the bike

there is no pressure to buy either most dealers that know me will let me ride a new model, i might not buy it but one of my mates will

does this happen in other countries ?:fork
