i live about 4 hours (maybe more or less) from vir. usually i go spend the nite with a friends up there seeing he lives close and has a garage. this time looks like he's gonna be gone tho, so i'm wondering should i just wake up real early and time the drive there with arriving on time or get a room. i'm kind of paranoid with the room mainly becuz i have an open trailer and dont wanna leave the bike out all nite. so do any of you guys drive to the track that early in the morn? am i gonna be wasted by the middle of the day?

honestly im doing Mid Ohio in a week and im getting a room. You need all the energy you can muster up for the day. No point in waking up that early and trying to ride all day. Spend the extra bit and get a room. Im on a college budget for riding and im getting a room for Mid Ohio next week. Its 4 hours from me and i wouldnt even consider driving there in the AM. If the track is more then 1.5 hours away from me theres no way ill drive the morning of... unless someone else is driving and im sleeping lol

We are leaving around noon (Monday) for Mid-Ohio, track day is on Tuesday the 1st. Are you going to be there?

A room.
You wouldn't want to ride up and then not be able to ride home because of fatigue or a mechanical failure. For me I just can't get up that early and drive/ride and then do an entire track day. I tend to sleep well (not many hours) but well at hotels.

I do 4 hours to JenningsGP (and there in another time zone), We have to be on the road at 2am to get there at 7am. Does make for a long freaking day, no big deal thou. Just go to sleep early day before........... :)

I suggest a room. I live 2 hours from the track I went to last Monday and I usually leave about 4am. However after this last experience I will be getting a room from now on. First I woke up 45 min late. Usually have everything packed the night before but it was midnight and I needed a nap. So we finally get on the road about 1-1/2 hours behind. About an hour into the ride one of the bikes on the trailer falls over on to mine, cracking my R side panel and my lower panel. Once back on the road I'm stuck behind 2 big rigs so I decide to go around them in the #2 lane and sure enough I get pulled over and get a ticket for being in the wrong lane w/ a trailer. So just to be safe stay the night.

Get a room man, the drive back to 757 from Danville sucks, even after sleeping well the night before. Super 8 has rooms for like 58$ a night. Not as nice as the lodge, but it's just a place to sleep. You can drop your trailer off at the track on Sunday afternoon then go to the hotel and relax and focus on tomorrow.

after thinking about it, yea i'm def staying the nite. i was actually looking at that super 8 too becuase hotls.com says its the closest hotel to alton, but turns out my friend is going to be in town so i' just going to stay there. anyone know what the rates are for those rooms at vir though? i figure its up there seeing they dont even list them.

I stayed at VIR my last trackday. I loved it, right outside my room was the last straight. Right under the room is the garage. The room was $50 per person & the garage was $50. I don't know if the prices are the same? I wouldn't worry about your open trailer. Everbody has there stuff out in the open.

get a room, then push the bike in with you.
if i go by myself i typically camp out at the track,i have an eclosed trailer so no big deal.
but if the family tags along,i get a room and even with the bike in the trailer its hard to relax,,,already had one stolen from inside the trailer.....
