What other parts did you have to order to get them to fit? I'm interested in doing this to my 04.

Nothing special - 07/08 Caliper brackets, calipers, new pads & spacers so I could use my 320mm rotors.

Looking at prices, if you dont have the ohlins fg327's. You can get a couple sets of 07/08 forks for the price of them brackets :hammer:

rkiser, you'll have to swap your forks with 07-10 R1 forks or purchase an aftermarket set for 07+. All you'll need is the forks, calipers, and front fender.

You only need a fender for 09 and up

 

damn I was interested in this until I saw that ya have to buy new forks which makes sense. The 06 I have isnt my bike but their birthday is comin up, but never mind that mod! very cool tho

 

Or just fit an RCS and braided lines probably makes an equal difference :fact

 

This would be a much bigger difference in performance than calipers.

 

6 piston calipers are 90's technology, 1993 GSXR1100 had them.

Current moto GP bikes use 4 piston Brembo's.

6 piston calipers look nice, but they're not cutting edge.

I think my 1995 FZR1000 had 6 piston calipers as well.

 

It seems like more pistons pushing the pad into the rotor means more stopping power. Is that not the case?

 

No, not really. It boils down to force generated (a function of the dimensions of the areas filled with brake fluid) versus pad area. You can't make a general statement like 'more pistons = more stopping power'.
