Just curious how do you cali guys get by with removing smog stuff in cali? Thought you guys had to be checked and certified by state law?

They are have been trying to pass smog laws on bikes here for a while now but they haven't done it yet. They also threatened it to be applicable to older bikes too but I don't remember how far back.
Bike in Cali still have to meet California Standards as delivered from the manufacturer, they just don't test it after that.

That's true. But there is talk of them testing bikes like they do cars every other year. Including older bikes. They have been talking about it for a few years but no laws yet.

I am in california right now near fremont cali for work. There is some hills/mountains here that give me wood when I drive them thinking "damn I wish I had my bike"

I would love to have my R1 here.

No smog for bikes in Cali = No problem.

I did, however, find out that Arizona requires a smog test on Bikes. How is it they need one but Cali doesn't?

AZ needs smog tests?

I found this out the hard way. My 2001 R1 is a Canadian model and since California won't let me register it here, I registered it in AZ. The registration expired in August and when I call AZ to see about renewing they told me I had to have it smog tested...kinda caught me off gard. Turns out my wife's dad (they live in AZ) had to get his sporster smogged also. Of all places, I wouldn't have expected that in Arizona. Now my baby is parked in the garage - it is so depressing I am having serious withdrawls. I have a cruiser also, but it just can't fill that void.

I bought my MV Agusta from a guy who lives in Phoenix. The registration was from his cabin in a different county.

I live in a rural type county, they don't screw with us here, yet!
