Snapped/slightly bent engine mount bolt

When the previous owner of my '03 R1 dropped the bike on an offramp, the frame slider, which was attached to the engine mount bolt, snapped the end of the bolt right off. You can see it in the picture. I have a question about 2 things. First off, in the parts microfiche, it shows that the bolt goes straight through from one side of the bike, through the engine block, to the other side of the bike. However, in the Haynes manual, it looks like there's a separate bolt on each side that screws in. Which one is correct?

If the bolt does indeed go through the engine block, do you think I will be able to unscrew this bolt without doing damage as the (slightly) bent bolt unscrews throught it? I'm not sure, exactly, which part of the engine this bolt goes through.

If the bolt is going to be too much of a hassle to replace, then I may just leave it as is and replace the spacer for looks. It doesn't seem like the bolt is going anywhere...

Thanks for any help

Matt

If that bolt goes all the way through your cam chain, pistons and rods are not going to be happy. :fact :lol

That bolt goes through the frame into the plate that you can see behind, which in turn is bolted to the engine. The bolt that has snapped should only have been torqued to 33 ft/lbs and therefor may come out fairly easily with an extractor if done right.

If you are unsure about doing it yourself, find a local engineering shop and I'll bet they will do it for not a lot of money.

Thanks, guys. If I use an extractor, is it safe to do it without putting a jack under the engine to keep it from moving? I'm not sure how big a role the bolt plays in holding the engine in place.. I'm also really confused as to why the microfiche shows the bolt going straight through the engine while Haynes describes it as you do with separate bolts on either side...

Crap. You're right. I'm an idiot. I should've looked closer... I still am having trouble figuring out which bolts I need.. It doesn't help that my bike is in MA and I'm in MN tight now. If you happen to have a second, do you mind telling me which number parts I need on that (frame) page of the microfiche. The frame slider is still on one side and that'll need to be removed, so I'll need the bolt, spacer, and collar for both sides I think. If someone has a second, that would be super awesome and I promise I'll pay it forward. If not, no worries. Thanks for the help!
