Shari let me know that Chris (burn-z) went down at the track today and broke his left hand.

hopefully you heal up soon and i'm glad it wasn't worse for you Chris, it's always shitty to see a season end early for someone.

Thanks so much guys for all your well wishes. I'm really sore right now but aside from my hand that's the extent of my injuries. I was worried about my shoulder but the orthopaedic said it was just some bad contusions. I broke two bones in my left hand and suffered a mild concussion. :bash
I can't believe my season's ending like this. I had the next four weekends booked with trackdays and the Wisconsin trip and I just got my PVM's installed this week. The day looked to be a beautiful day to ride but started out very cold. It was 41 degrees at the track at 0900 this morning. Cold temp, cold track, cold tires and three turns into the first lap I'm sitting on the ground wondering wtf just happened. I was taking it very slowly to warm up the tires going maybe 25-30mph. Three turns and maybe 1/10 mile into lap 1 the rear kicked out suddenly and severely. It happened so fast I'm still not sure what happened but I know I got launched and landed on my left shoulder, head and back. I was actually going slower than I was two weeks ago in the rain there.
Right side of the bike is still perfect but the left got rashed up a little bit. It needs a new front cowl assembly, left cowl and upper and lower tail sections.
The crash protection did it's job quite well. :bow:bow:bow
The left Motovation slider was ground down but didn't break and the AGRAS engine cover worked phenomenally. Not a singe mark on the frame, swingarm or engine. The rear spool snapped off and the Gilles chain adjuster/lifter crash pads did their job. I got a couple scuffs on the Rizoma bar ends and a little paint came off the CRG clutch lever but didn't break. The left Rizoma rearset peg also broke. All in all I think the damage was minimal considering how hard I hit the ground. Not a single mark on any of the cf or my new wheels but I did get a little scrape on the left Akra can. Anyone know if I can purchase a replacement can from Akra without buying the whole Evo system:crash. I don't have a total but I'm sure it's a couple thousand:scared
I just don't want it totaled. Oh... I need a new helmet too.:bash

The good side:boobies

New wheels... I don't think the tires should wear perpendicularly.

Hard to see but the tail is split into numerous pieces.

Even gound flush the Ti D ring.

Split the cf heel guard but not a mark on the clutch slider.

You can see how much the sliders ground off.

My dome.

Even dented the Ti shoulder cup.

My hand. Good thing it wasn't my right hand. One major fracture and a small one on my ring finger above the knuckle.
It really could have been worse. I can't imagine riding without gear. Even at these low speeds I would not have survived without helmet and leathers.:fact

Was good to chat with you, Chris and Shari. Glad you're not hurt more than you are. Bikes can be repaired, bodies will mend. :thumbup

Granted, I was on four wheels, you're not supposed to take after me. :fact

Hey Shawn, I only crashed so I'd have a reason not to ride on the 3rd. This way I can come and pick up your bike for you. I already told Jessica I'll be available to help out at the track since I'll already be there.

Sorry to hear about the crash but I'm glad it wasnt worse. Are you gonna have to have surgerie? plates? pins? screws? gotta love getting second opinions cuz they always mean more pills lol
Orthopaedic said it didn't look like I'd need any surgery but I have to go back in a week to re-evaluate with a hand specialist.
Heal soon, Chris!!
Props to gear ! Glad you're doing okay and heal up soon.
Bike still looks good !
