After looking at pictures it still confuses me. Did this bike come from the factory with ohlins or not?

If you are talking Yellow 06's then there was an Anniversary and an LE/SP
The Anniversary was a standard R1 in Anniversary Yellow theme (like mine :() and then there was an LE, same color scheme but with Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, slipper clutch and numbered plaque (?? of 500) on the top triple, the SP was the European designation in a Black and Gold color scheme

Yeah, we got that as an SP in Aus. The frame was the same blue/grey colour as the fairing, and the tank was black. Looks shite to me, I much prefer the US yellow version. If they'd made it in blue, I would of been interested.:) As it is, it reminds me of Ayerton Sennas' F1 car..

wow so that's strange, but a friend of mine has a 2005 r1 that he claims is a special edition. It does have all of the body work, including the black wheels with the yellow stripe, and it is also numbered on the triple tree?

There is no special edition or limited edition in 2005.

That doesn't mean someone couldnt' have switched the plastics and tripple form an 06 though.

After some research there were 2 yellow versions, the normal 50th and the LE/SP with the slipper , rims, and ohlins bits.
