Love the stompgrip on my bike, fits the tank real nice and helps a lot in riding the bike! Unfortunately can't tell much about Techspec... I'll try to find some pics from my bike...

I just put stomp grip on my bike last week and love it. They didn't have the die cut, so I bought the uncut and made it work. I love the grip, works great.

I was test fitting it wearing shorts, I know I won't be squiding around with it on the tank, now.

<edit> With the clear, you can barely see it in pictures.

in what way, exactly? from what i've heard from everyone that's tried both, the stompgrip holds on a little better, but not way better. it does eat up your pants a bit more though. looks is up to your own opinion, but i think the tecspec looks way better than the stompgrip. before i knew about tecspec, i preferred nothing over the stompgrip. that's opinion though. grip wise, the tecspec holds on as much as i would want or expect it to. i don't have leathers so can't comment on that, but in jeans, i don't move at all. can't expect much more than that.

think stomp grip had some bad adhesive's from 3M. i had two sets fall off even after proper preping. after the second one fell off and while thinking tech-spec, i called up stomp grip to tell them what happened. stomp said that some of the pads that sat on shelves for a long time might be bad. they sent me some pads fresh from the molds and they stick better than slicks on a hot day. go stomp grip!

I liked my stompgrips on my '07 ZX10R SE..the only think I didnt like bout it was the bubbles showing all over thru the clear stompgrips on my ebony ZX10R.. I should've gotten the black stompgrips instead..Im gonna get me some for my R1 soon..

Stomp had a period a year or so ago where some of their pads had faulty adhesive. They are quick to replace any defective pads. Stomp grips better on leathers but is uncomfortable on the street with jeans in my opinion. Mostly street=tech spec. Tech spec looks better. So if you are mainly track, want the best grip and looks are not so much of a big deal, get stomp. Otherwise tech spec is the way to go.

I put stomp grips on my '01 with OK, but not great, results. Kinda a pain in the azz making my own pattern and then cutting to fit since nobody sells pre-cut grips for models older than '02. Or at least Stomp Grip doesn't. The Tech Specs said there are patterns available for other bikes, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Anyway, my experience with the Stomp Grips is like this: they're great function-wise in that you're not going to slide around at all, especially while braking. The bad? Well, even after prepping (cleaning with alcohol) the shiat outta the tank, using a hairdrier to warm the grip and tank, the grip still wants to peel off around the edges. Working the bubbles out was a pain also. Thinking about ripping them off and either doing over again or trying Tech Specs. After reading nomad's post, I might just try calling Stomp Grips and see about getting them replaced.

Another vote for Stomp Grip. I've had them on my '06 R6 since '06. As long as you put them on the proper way {heat from a hair dryer} they will not come off. Don't rush putting them on. Don't stick them on then unstick them. I've done many track days and some street riding in the heat and have never had a problem. Oh, they really make a difference too. I jumped on a '07 R1 {Streetjesters} at Deal's Gap last Summer and could really tell a huge difference since his bike did not have them. I was sliding all over the place.

:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup on the Stomp grips.

If the surface is prepped properly with alcohol to clean off the wax and whatever else used to protect the tank by letting the bike and SG sit in the sun to 1. heat up the metal/plastic, 2. to heat up the SG to make it pliable, and 3. putting the SG on with patience to prevent a lot of air from getting trapped under the pad, then you shouldn't have any problems.

- I have had the clear on mine for 2 years without bubbles!

Stomp Grip. I've had it on my bike since 05 and it even held up when the tsunami hit Indonesia. Never budged a bit. Sure some people tell me how could it since my bike and me were here safe in Michigan, but I think they are just nit picking little details.

everybody seems to have some experience or opinions about the stomp grip, but i haven't really seen any reasons why you should choose it over the tech spec's. :dunno better grip, better appearance, better durability? nobody's had a real performance comparison from the two. i chose the tech spec over the stomp because i was told they were less harsh on leathers & i think they look way better. i got the snake skin tech spec's and haven't even ridden the bike since installing so i can't evaluate it, but give me a good reason why i should have gone with stomp instead. i've yet to see one. it seems like either is great to have and it's just a personal preference thing, not that one kicks ass over the other.

Well don't worry, the first time you go tumbling across the pavement in your leathers, you will realize that a scuff mark the size of a quarter inside each knee isn't "trashed". Plus, if someone is close enough to the inside of your knee to see that, tell 'em to get back to work! :lol

Personally, I don't see this as ugly. But what do I know, I ride a GSXR...
