STUCK Thermostat assembly inlet pipe :(

Hello!
New member here, been eyeing these forums for a few weeks as a guest, but now I think I need some advice from anyone who's faced this problem I have :)

So I bought this 99' R1, and I'm rebuilding the engine in the process, as the head gasket isn't in good shape.

I got the engine out, took out the head, and I'll be checking its surface.. probably resurfacing it soon.

Thing is, along the disassembly process, the inlet pipe from the engine head to the thermostat has been stuck, I've been soaking it in WD40 for 2 weeks and tapping it lightly with a hammer to get it loose, but it's stuck there forever it seems.

The top end of the pipe is in bad shape.. I might be able to reshape it again, but I figured I'd rather take it off for the head resurfacing process.

Any ideas? It's about 1.5mm thick steel; I've tried grip vices, but can't get much grip without squashing the pipe, so it's limited.
I grabbed a C-spanner and tried rotating it around the flat piece that hold the bolt, but the welding is starting to break up.

Unsure whether it's safe to heat up the whole area and try again - I'm afraid such heat will warp the head? :icon_eek:

Might try praying to Jesus next..

Any ideas people? :)

Hi Guys, an update.

So I figured I couldn't take the valve cover off the engine whilst it's on the bike, cause this pipe was in the way.

I bought a whole thermostat assembly from eBay, pipes included, and went at the stuck pipe with all i've got.

The b@stard was stuck so hard, I had to rip it in pieces, but finally managed. This time I put a little copper grease on the lining, so it won;t get stuck again!

Thanks for the ideas
