Hi, I hope that I am not stepping on anyones' toes, but I persoannly hate the term "crotch rocket." IMO if I am around guys with motorcycles and I hear them talking about thier "crotch rockets," I think they are posers. If am talking to a non-motorcyclists and they say "awesome crotch rocket, or take me for a ride on your crotch rocket." Then I believe they have either been riding on the passenger seat with posers or they are really just unaware and need info. I might be overly preachy but I will sometimes say that I would never ride on the back with someone who calls their supersport a "crotch rocket," especially if I didn't have a helmet. A "Crotch Rocket" is an bike that you buy for others, A "supersport" is bike that you buy for yourself. Thought I would share my opinion and see what other's thoughts are.

I don't care what you call it... AS LONG AS IT HAS TWO WHEELS AND GOES LIKE A MOTHER FVCKER!! :dunno

"Crotch Rocket" doesn't really bother me. I am sure I have called my bike that before...

And, although I love all the attention that a bike like the R1 gets, it is all about zoning out and riding the pace.

Attention is just a bi-product of this therapeutic, stress relieving machine.

What about the term, Rice Rocket? :lol

or bullet bike?

i personally use sportbike

i usually use 'the one' but sometimes just 'rocket' because it's plain and simple.

I usually use the term sportbike, but I think most non-riders are used to hearing the term crotch-rocket. I don't really care about which one people use, but I guess I prefer sportbike from people that ride them.

Oh - and you'd never catch me on the back of a sportbike. No freakin' way.

I HATE the term "bullet bike" it sounds retarded, I am all for sportbike. I feel like a sports car the designation implies ready for compettitive use. and how often do you refer to a viper or even a mclaren f1 as a bulletcar.

Supersport vs Crotch Rocket

Growing up in Illinois the only time I ever remember the reference to a "Supersport" was the Honda CB series of motorcycles. However, what i remember about the "Crotch Rockets" was that the bikes were called "Cafe Racers". When i moved to Texas, who would have thunk, was the first time i heard the bikes referenced as Crotch Rockets. I have to agree, it is a retarded name, but then again who gives a sheet! As long as you own one, your set.

I believe the term had to do with buying something powerful to put between your legs to compensate for poorly performing orginal equipment. Also the louder and more attention getting the ride the smaller the riders equipment.
Guess Jay Leno needs a microscope and a pair of tweezers to go piss.

Yes, if it's raining and or cold, I'll drive in my Navigator w/ heated seats thank you very much. If that makes me a poser, so be it.

No non-bike enhusiast is going to know the difference between a Ninja 250 and an R1, so I usually explain it's a crotch rocket and they understand. No biggie. Just because they don't know what an R1 or a SuperSport is, I'm not going to stop talking to them.

My favorite term of all time: Donor cycle. That was told to me by my DOCTOR. Said that's was they referred to them as in the ER when he was in his residency. Thanks doc...

I hate when people call you an organ donor because you ride a SPORT BIKE. I use the term sport bike and only refer to "crotch rocket" when people don't understand. The term never really bothers me. Why don't we all hang out at the airports and ask people who are boarding if they have parachutes..... when they say no, we hand them burial flowers. I am sure that would piss people off, just like them calling us organ donors.
