Suspension and Engine Temp ???

Just got a R1 and have some silly questions...the suspension dampner was set up as high as it can go. Although I am a big dude (220 lbs) I feel like I am just too high in the air, like I am going to go over the handle bars (6 foot 00 inches tall). I could probably get used to the height but it is putting more pressure and weight than necessary on my wrists and I am developing carpal tunnel anyway (unrelated). My question is this...how do I lower the dampner back? That probably is a juvenile question but I've never done this and don't want to break or scratch anything. Also what am I going to be giving up performance wise (if anything) by lowering it back down? Finally what is the highest safe temperature for an R1? I noticed if I am setting and talking to someone while the bike idles the temp reaches nearly 190 F but when I take off it goes back down pretty quick to about 150 F. I have only been able to ride for about 45 minutes and only up to about 120 because of cold weather and wet roads. i am guessing that hours at normal riding speeds (55-160) will result in a sustained higher temp anyway but don't know at this point. Any help is appreciated...sorry for the long post.

Thanks for the replies

The temp conversions seem to be what my bike is doing between 158 and 196 or so. Thanks for the word Mandrake. As far as the suspension goes, I thought it was stock but maybe not. Above the spring there is a flat cog with a "stair-stepped"device above it. By turning the cog you can go "up the stairs or down the stairs" effectively raising or lowering your suspension. This guy has the bike setting on the top stair and told me that he moved it up three clicks from the factory setting. I am trying to get in touch with him but our schedules aren't compatible. Just bought my bike this weekend, rode once and now it is snowing outside - over an inch :ugh .

Hey your temp sound right. Search "killer suspension settings"I found a step by step instruction on proper basic set up. Good luck.
