I pulled up on my new 02 last year. Of course, the first thing out of everyones mouth "Why didn't you get the limited edition silver one"... "couldn't find one?"

I told them I couldn't find a damn blue one. I found a ton of silver ones around here. But of course I'm a dumb ass.

Well I just got through talking with a friend of mine who just
got a Black/Red flame R1. First thing he said was "hey I got
the Limted edition R1!."

The Black/Red Flame R1 IS NOT LIMITED. You only are

The only R1 that is a limited edition as you all know is the Champions edition. It's serialized....

Yep your right and I got a true Limited.

 

I own a red and black and at first I thought it was a limited but I was wrong that does not change the fact that it looks bad ass.I was going to buy a blue and white 02 but I messed around a few days haggling over the black and red one and missed out on a great deal on a left over 02 but I am happy with the deal I got because I traded in 01 r6 with high miles and a piece of shit raptor 4wheeler and put the r1 on the road for only 1500 cash between my two trades

 

Talked to a dealer today, I asked him if he had any black w/red flames R1's in. Right away he referred to it as a "limited edition" R1. I thought to myself :bs :2bitchsla But he did say he as a dealer is only allotted 5 black and red R1's this year.

 

I don't know about the rest of you guys on silver, blue, and black/flame R1's, but my baby is "Limited." And to think, when the 2002 models were first released, the dealerships were practically giving the Red '02's away because no one wanted them :lol

The 03 paint scheme is awesome. It almost looks like they took the 98's (only) fairings and brought them back out into use. Seriously, look close at the 98's, Later!

they call it limited because there's not as many of them as the other bikes as of yet, the other reason is that the dealer's didnt make a large order of black w/flames from japan because they were so usto making orders for blue ones and now the silver one's, but I'm sure there going to be making big order's of black w/flames for 04 if they still make them!

 

So dealers get to choose the type of inventory they want by color? I thought they were allotted so many of one color?

 

Yeah I got bit big time. 10 years in the car biz and the Silver is the 1st thing I ever paid MSRP for. Furthermore, my friend said my bike would be perfect if they only made it in black.... so He falls for the Limited Edition scheme like me and pays MSRP! Hate to say it, but that is the kind of shit that gives a loyal customer a bad taste.
