Thinking about switching my Akra for a Graves exhaust

Well I'm thinking about switching my Akra TI to a Graves TI.
Why? Well I am completely satisfied with the quality and craftsmanship on the Akrapovic. BUT it just sounds too close to stock. I've had this exhaust for about the last 2K miles and everytime I see another bike they always sound like an F1-supercar and I just can't get that sound out of an Akra. Anyone see anything wrong with switching to Graves over my current setup? Or has anyone made this switch?

Strider,

By the way, is your Akra a slip-on or a full system? Cause Akra has been known for one of the best sound. If you have just the slip-on, then I don't think Graves will be any louder either, because of the EX-UP valve...

carbon fiber and titanium pipes tend to be kinda quiet. If u want more noise, just go stainless steel. Go D & D if u want to annoy people.:rock D & D Show and Go stainless steel, no one will be louder than u. Besides the stainless steel pipes are cheaper.:fact

RE:

It's a Titanium slip-on. I mean if you haven't ever heard an Akra, it basically sounds almost exactly like the stock can, except slightly deeper in tone. I mean I realize sound isn't reallly that important as much as horsepower, but come on. When you have your buddy who gets compliments all time on his exhaust note and the only thing people can say about your Akra is "damn that thing is quiet," well it just sucks. Graves it is...... :)

Cool I'll keep you guys posted. I have always thought the best two exhausts ever made IMO were Akrapovic and Graves. I know Anthony Gobert's & Team Yamaha in 99-02 used them, and Damon Buckmaster uses Graves. I think the quality of the Graves will be simular to the Akrapovic, but it's exhaust note I believe has a much deeper growl....

spend the money and get the full system if you want sound, i tryed the slip on deal with my 02 R1 from 0 miles to 500 miles, then thought the same thing, way too quiet. now have full race akra and pc3 currently with graves full map, its a whole new bike, and sounds beyond good, and it does get ultra loud above 9k rpm and it pulls way harder than i ever thought it would with just exhaust and the pc3

A slip-on will ALWAYS sound muffled or muted with the EXUP valve still on.

Akra, or Graves... it doesn't matter. In order to get that killer sound, you have to put on a full system. A slip-on just wont do. All slip-ons will sound pretty close.

I love the sound of my full race Akrapovic from 5-7k in sixth just rollin on it. Mmmmm. Doesn't sound anywhere close to stock, it's quiet for cruising in town but screams perfectly when the bikes stung out.

I have a buddy who has the Graves slip on and his only complaint is that it is a little too quiet than what he thought, other than that, he loves it.

so no matter what slip on you get because of this valve it is going to be not much louder than stock?

i was thinking of getting just a slip on but not if it is going to be quiet.

if i do get the full system is it just a bolt on application? or do other things have to been done? thanks, sorry im new to the bike modding thing.
