I use in My R1 2004 180/55/17 Pilot race but im dealing if the bike take a corner better whit 190/50/17 any issue whit this ?

Basically 190 will result in a little bit slower turn in, but higher stability in the corners, and more high speed stability. 180 is quicker to turn in but not as planted in a high speed corner. Hope that helps.

I agree with this except the part about the 180 not being as planted in high speed corners, i have never had that problem. But I don't race. I 've done 2 track days on a 180 and imo the bike feels better on a 180. A lot lighter and quicker feeling to me.

ok well i kinda know what tires i want now, 190/55/17-120/70/17, but i was wondering what the difference was between 208 series and 218. someone asked me what mine were and i had no idea. i dont no if that even matters

more importantly...i am going to the track sept 3rd. i have stock tires with maybe 40% tread left in the middle and 60% on the sides (roughly). are these tires going to hold me. i did my first track day on them and they were fine, but it was a hot day and i only started really leaning at the end of the day. i was scraping knee towards the end and i am finally getting the hang of leaning the bike. will my tires hold me, or do i need softer newer tires. i am still a novice rider so im assuming i can hold off until the next track day but i want to make sure incase my tires might giveway.

well i install 190/55 pilot power regulars and the bike feels a lot better in the corners a little MM to erase the arrow and michelin cartoon :rock in the steet i don't test in the track ,becuase we don't have a date for race
Thanks Guys for the help.

Nivlac10,
LINK80Reid is absolutely correct. Once you start racing you'll see the difference for sure!:riding

Hey i have a dunlop sportmax in the front and was wondering if it would be ok to put a qualifier on the back i kno you dont wanna mix tires but they are both dunlop and both the 208 series so would it matter? i was gonna get a 190/50 the front is 120/70 thx for the input!

I like race tires but the best handling I've had is with a 190/60, I've used the 55 and 50 but the taller profile makes the thing turn very fast. You don't need to use 180s anymore because they make taller 190s that work much better. Just make sure to adjust the geometry to compensate.

I've run 180/55, 190/50, 190/55, and am currently on a 195/60 slick and I wouldn't mount a tire lower than a 190/55 ever again on my R1.
