Hi All

I'm thinking to get aftermarket REAR shock for my 2005 R1 to go to track days, consider of MATRIS or Ohlins ? any advise?

I saw some racer have Matris on their race bike, looks pretty cool, but don't know how's the Matris working on track?

Please ! Please! give me an clearly suggestion.....

Matris is all Italian and good quality. I ran one of their steering dampers on my '03 R1 and it did a fine job. As for the rear shock I can't offer any input.

What's the price comparison between the shocks. It looks like a great shock, is it easy to setup? For me I look at what's a proven piece and ohlins is certainly proven from AMA to motogp. I'd like to here more as well about the Matris shock too... Good question Hung...sorry for budding in on your thread.

For the Price, I think Elka is a good buy. I believe their triple-clicker type shock has an MSRP of under $1000 bucks. I recently tested one on an R6.. I've got to say.. The thing was pretty good and definitely opened my eyes as far as shocks go. I had previously been an Ohlins-only type of dude.

they got a killer deal on Matris shocks right now at oncycle I'm in the market for a rear shock also. The only problem with Matris is that there is not a lot of support since they are an Italy base company. I've been waiting to hear from the guys at GMD boston to see if they work with Matris also.

Matris is great stuff, just not really popular here in the states really. You shouldn't have to worry about sending it in for a refresh when it is due for it. As long as you're not racing there's no need to fiddle with it out of the box. For your trackdays it will respond for your needs just fine

However I would say if you have the $ just get the ohlins you will be very happy camper with it.

I could not find Matris for my R1, they sold out..........Wow.......I believe Matris is good enough to track..

So..after few days decision....I bought Ohlins rear shock for my R1 for next new rider race.

New before install on my baby..
