Too old for my R1 at age 38?

I've always assumed that as I got older that I would migrate from my sportbike to a cruiser. Most R1 owners in my town look relatively younger than I do. My question: Is there a particular age that I should move on to the cruiser because I'll start looking weird on the sport bike. I'm 38. I thought 42 would be a good age to retire my sportbike.
By the way, I love my R1.When i'm away from it I think about her all the time.

You're only too old when you convince yourself you are. If I'm not mistaken I believe we had a guy on here that was approaching 60 and still rocking his 1. I can't think of who that was, although I'd say you've got alot of years to go if you think you can and, most of all, want to do it.

I'm 38 and I'm just getting started, you're talking about giving it up??? :2bitchsla:2bitchsla:2bitchsla

On a particular road I ride there's supposed to be a guy in his 70's that rides up there. I haven't run into him yet but word is he will smoke your ass... until he gets off the bike then he hobbles like an old man. :crash Nothing better than stomping the young guy that thinks he's hot sh1t. :fact

Not a chance. I will be 39 next month and can't imagine not riding a sportbike. I ride with a guy that just turned 49. He has 5 R1's, yes 5! A showbike, track bike, 2 for the street and just put one together out of parts for his girlfriend. Ride whatever you want for as long as you want to.

I don't know which is better or worse, a 49 year old having 5 R1s or having a girlfriend. :crash

Thx for the encouragement: No more target years

I didn't expect to get this type of response. Not 1 person gave me a cut off age to move on to a cruiser or retire all together. You all are right i still have plenty of years left in me. I'll just live in the moment instead of the future. I guess a couple of grey hairs on my head and beard spooked me. Not to mention that it takes longer for me to heal whenever I'm injured (exercising). I will let fate inform me when it's time for me to give it up without letting anyone else deter me.
& hello to u also BrnEyzR1.

Wow,Here I was thinking about retiring the R1 in my mid 40s and ur telling me that people in their 50s and 60s are riding? Impressive. I hope that one of our elders make a comment on this page. I only see people above 50 riding cruisers.
