I went to go try on some track suits today, and how tight is too tight? I tried on one, the fit looked alright but I could barely breathe and could not make my back straight. I tired on a different one and it felt great, but looked a little loose. All the track suits i tried on were a pain to get out of though. Im looking at the agv sport race suits, looks pretty good for the price. Im 5'10'' and 165 btw, is 44 a good size? thanx in advance.

If you can zip it up it's not too tight. If you need help to get out of it, it's not too tight. I wear the same size as guys smaller than me but it still fits great. Everyone looks like their carrying a load after a ride or two. Be sure to try it with your back protector.

you definately will want to be able to bend, you'll want to have the full range of motions needed for a day at the track, also, i was told by an outfitter, you dont want to be able to pinch leather around the torso. If you can pinch the leather, it is more likely to grip the asphault , you want to be able to slide accross the asphault. and lastley if im not mistaken, 44 is the chest measurement.

Welcome to the world of 1 pc suits :lol You want it to fit snugg but not feel like it was painted onto you. All brand fit differantly so it's best to try them on and you should also take your back protector if you plan on wearing one. You could fit into a 42 US/UK properly but again it's based on brand and your waistline. I am 6ft 160 lbs 33-34 waistline and I wear a 44 US/UK but can squeeze into some 42's even with a back protector. 1pc suits have a race crouch cut so they sorta feel as though your getting pulled down a little

the hip area is a little baggy, but how do u guys get outta of em??? even with the 44 it was a struggle to get out of the suit.

Under armour top and bottom makes things a whole lot easier. With an aftermarlet back protector it should help take in some of the baggy bum.

How the f$#k did you fit into that suit. I just bought a euro 58 a stars suit and I couldn't even get it over my shoulders. 6' foot 205 lbs. I almost had a hernia getting it halfway on. WTF??

ok figured it out. After reading this post I got undiscouraged, and went back to the bike shop and tried the suit on again. This time I brought a friend and the owner helped me. Before it was just my girl helping. With those bigger guys I was able to squeeze into the suit. THANK GOD. I thought I was f##ked. Tight fit, but worth it. A stars race replica us size 48 euro 58. 6 ft. 205. If you dont think it fits, it probably does just try harder. Lesson learned.

I'm 5'10" and about 175 was torn between a 42 and 44. Unfortunately can't find anywhere to try one on in my part of the world. Just ordered an A*'s MX1 this AM from Rob at www.lithiummotorsports.com. Talked to him for a long time about which way to go and he suggested the 44 - hope it fits though he offere to take it back and send a 42 if it does not. I wear a 44 in JR Speedmaster 2 piece now and it's fairly snug.
BTW, really good place to deal with run by racers, and the price was REALLY good.

i just got my alpinestars octane suit and it fits like a glove... size 50 us... im 6'1" 245lbs... its a tight fit... the legs and arms are just a tad too long but are ok with boots and gloves on... im not sure how the agv suits fit but with your measurements i'd think that a 44 would probably be ur best bet... a lot of it has to do with how your weight is distributed throughout your body

yeah i am torn between the 42 and the 44. does the suit stretch out a lot over time? the 44 is nice, but i am worried that the baggy part will catch on the ground if i fall off

#18 ·
some brands will stretch more than others but they will all stretch some... i would go with the 42 if you can get in it because after you wear it and ride in it a couple times it will be perfect..... if you go with the 44 it might stretch and end up way too big after a couple good rides

I'm 6'-1" and 210 lbs and require an Astars 50/60. I've been hitting the weights off and on for 20 years too though. Everybody is different. I think the most important dimension is from crotch to shoulders. I got my butt in a 48 once, but felt constricted when riding and didn't really have all the movement needed. Had to have someone pry if off my shoulders. Size 50 is floppy in the torso, but what are you going to do? A custom suit is not an option. Find a local store and try on all the brands.

dont you just hate how suits are made for people who are average weight for their height.... its not really that they're made for people who are "fit" or "in shape" theyre made for people who weigh what their doctor says they should... its especially hard for people like myself who spend almost as much time in the gym as we do riding..... i hate that the manufacturers think that just because you have a 48" chest means that you're 6'4", there's people that i work out with that are 5'10" and have a 52" chest.... and buying custom made suits is not only a hassle and you have to wait for them they're also too damn expensive.... so in this aspect i envy those of you who are 6' and weigh 165 lbs and a size 42 suit fits you exactly the way it was made to.... unlike us guys who are 6' and weigh 240lbs and have to wear a 48 or 50 and the suits dont fit us anywhere except the chest... and even going that big squeezing our arms and legs into a suit is a chore.... but anyways dont ever trust the size charts on manufacturers websites.... the best thing to do is go to the store, find the suit you want, and find the one that fits you... and by fitting you doesn't mean that its easy to get on and off, if its easy its way too big.... it should be a pain in the ass if it fits you right.... oh well just blabbing on.....

Thought I would bump this thread to get some of your thoughts. I just bought a 2-piece Alpinestars RC-1 suit and tried it on when it arrived at the shop today. The jacket fits well and I basically had better not gain more than a few pounds or it won't fit. The problem, as I'm sure many of you understand, is that I have wide shoulders and chest and my pants size is about a 31" waist. So my jacket is really tight but there is some bunching in the small of my back where the jacket and pants meet, none in the front though. The seat is actually pretty good because it fits tightly when I lean over on the bike. The guy at the shop, who is very cool and seemed honest, said that he didn't think it was bunching too much in the small of my bike. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or smart. I just want to make sure that the suit that I just paid $900.00 bucks for is at least not going to cause me any road rash. Mind you, this is without a back protector in there. I am 5'8" and 150 lbs. Am I doomed to a custom fitted suit?

5'8" at 150 should put you in a 40 on most off the rack one piece suits; although, it may be just a tad long in the legs. Alpinestars are better fitted for slimer people as with Dainesse and MotoGP.

That's what I thought. And the guy at the shop also told me that Alpinestars is for slimmer folks. I just tried the suit on and pretty much convinced myself that the pants are too big/long. They bunch up at the knees as well. This really sucks because I was all ready to ride now that it's getting warm.
Hey, do the pants that you guys wear fit so tight that you can't pull the leather off of your legs in the front. That's how one site was describing how they should fit. Thing is, the suit feels really good when I actaully tuck in on my bike.

I'm 6'0 190 and wear a 46. Vanson has an awesome 2 zipper design that makes gettin in and out way easier ! Both start a few inches apart below the waist and angle up tword each collar bone, Vanson is worth the $$$$
