hi guys, I'm a bit of an R1 forum stalker but don't post much but could really do with some help!!

im trying to install a Translodgic micro dash to my 2008 r6 (which is heavily influenced by this site).

old pic for now:
Image

Im not sure if the 2006 to 2008 r6 is the same wiring to the clocks as the 2006 to 2008 r1, as aim sell plug and play kits which seam to fit both.

Anyway

im falling at the first hurdle of the wiring

i need to find the following wires from the standard gauge wiring:
High beam
Oil pressure switch
Ground
Neutral
Left indicator
right indicator
ignition on supply 12v
rpm ignition coil signal wire

Image

i have stripped the bike and removed the standard clocks and loom and have the following wires to the 16 pin clock plug:

top row looking from above:
1 = blue with green dots
2 = black with green dots and yellow stripe
3 = dark green with green dots and
4 = light green with green dots and white stripe
5 =brown with green dots
6 = empty
7 = blue with green dots and white stripe
8 = light blue with green dots and white stripe

Image

bottom row right to left when turned upside down
1 = yellow with green dots and black stripe
2 = black with green dots and red stripe
3 = yellow with green dots and blue stripe
4 = empty
5 =light green with green dots
6 = black with green dots and white stripe
7 = brown with green dots
8 = red with green dots and green tripe

can anyone who has installed one shed some light or confirm if the wiring is the same as the 2006-2008 r1?

any help greatly appreciated as electrics are my weakness, and as soon as i get this dam dash installed ill get the bike back together and show you some better pics with a few changes!!

cheers andy

cheers for the info guys, ive been looking through the wiring diagrams and trying to work out the wires, thats if im reading it right

the clock connector was item 48 and as the plug layout:

Image

that matches my plug but i have an extra wire to the top bank next to the yellow and green but will just forget about that for now

i think the wires are as follows which seam to match carbonar1 bar one

Harness 2

TL High beam : white - OEM : back/yellow (the black white on the r6 looks like an ecu feed) the black yellow meets 78 which is the headlight high beam according to the diagram

TL Oil Pressure : yellow - OEM : black/red

TL Ground (neg) : black - OEM : any ground on frame

TL Neutral : green - OEM pale blue/white

TL Left Indicator : purple - OEM : dark brown

TL Right indicator : light brown - OEM : dark green

TL Fused 12V supply : red - OEM : pale brown

now for the coil signal wire, can i take a feed from any coil? or is there only one specific signal wire? it seams carbonar1 tapped into the grey green on the furthest right ride plug?

before i start cutting and joining is there a way i can test the wires?

can i just strip the wires on the translogic loom and poke them into the standard clock connector ports to see if correct? also i want to check to see if powers up but do not want to damage anything or blow it up!!!

cheers andy

hi carbonar1, im not using the speed sensor as it looks garbage!!! so once i get everything wired in ill have a look if i can take a signal from the oem like you have

do u have any pics of the back of your dash and how it was mounted please?
i trailed it yesterday and i could see the silver brackets by using the standard fairing stay holes, so there looks to be 2 options

drill new holes in the fairing stay or make a carbon base plate for the dash say 10-15mm bigger than the dash that will hide any fixings

one thing i have just finished is a proper rear master cylinder, i have had HRC green tubing, HRC pink tubing, and they all end up turning white and milky, even on the brake reservoir, so i have gone for brembo black tubing and Rizoma mini reservoir up front, and now installed a Brembo self contained master cylinder and reservior which hides neatly behind the carbon heal plate, and also routed the brake line through the hugger so is hidden as much as possible

nice bike andy. plenty of ti bolts too i see!:sneaky
aren't you worried about the rear brakeline chaffing on the carbon hugger though? (especially with swingarm travel inlolved)
The lines been like that for a year and is fine as is clipped in the inside of the swingarm, and held tight at the hugger the flex at the top to the master cylinder provides the travel, but I will keep an eye on it now as changed the master cylinder but it's got the same flex at the top as it did previously, when I get the rear wheel off next I'll take a pic

right got the dash installed and all i need to do now is set it up, i used the posi taps for the wiring which made it a simple job, highly recommend them if ever doing any wiring jobs on the bike.

right only issue now which the manual does not tell you is how do you set the mileage?

and it also looks like in the manual there should be settings for the screens contrast?

when i was messing on with it, it came onto a menu for distance and mine now has 1700 miles entered into it, i was wondering how you get back to this menu to set it to match the mileage on the standard clocks

also in the manual if you look on page 2 at the diagram it shows there will be a light for backlight, so wonder if there is a function to go with it, unless its just the red blue option

when you installed yours what mileage showed up? the bikes or did it just start from zero?

That was total mileage, good knows how I've done it but I have emailed translodgic to see what they say, I wish I had waited and got aim as the translodgic is all show and can see it getting replaced later on or I'll will make way to the track bike

What spec aim did u go for?
